I’m impressed all the fan installation videos I’ve watched show it can be done alone! I’m learning how to my hold things over my head; etc. with one hand (head, cheek, shoulder) and manage screws, wires etc with other hand; 😂😃

yes this is a flushmount cowl series of this hunter ceiling fan. but there are canopy versions for the downrods.

I just installed a Hunter low-profile fan like this one. The ceiling is drywall, and there's a fan-grade box attached to a joist (that a previous fan was installed on) which is completely secured. The motor's square piece sits in the bracket and installed the two locking screws so they, as you say, "keep it from jumping out". But after finishing the install, the motor still has a significant amount of give to it: I can move it noticeably side to side and push it slightly upwards. The two screws keep it from going much further, but it seems odd that there's so much lateral wiggling after it's installed. Is that normal? Are the two locking screws supposed to keep the motor securely in place, or just keep it from basically jumping out of the bracket? (edit) After watching the rest of the video, I see your install's motor also wiggles a bit around 10:50; so I guess it's normal and it's supposed to do that?

Just installed. Same motor wiggle. I think it's okay.

I unfortunately just put one up with this style bracket. Without a doubt the worst piece of junk ceiling fan I've ever seen. Homeowner cannot go above medium speed or the "gravity" held motor will wobble horribly. The screws secure nothing! To answer your question, NO...that is not normal but, it seems it's normal for a Hunter fan. That's way I'll never buy one again and will never install them again.

Didn't get grommets with mine, washers instead. It works great. I just realized you don't need the remote to turn on the light or fan. shut it off with the wall switch not the remote and it will come on the way you shut it off. So in winter when you don't use the fan, put on the light with the remote, and shut it off using the wall switch, only the light will come on. I really don't like the remote, I would rather have a chain. Too much to go wrong.
