Got this here Hunter brand ceiling fan to replace an existing light fixture. I was able to reuse the existing electrical box as the fixture was secured directly to a board.

Many thanks. I could not figure the wireing part until watched you do it. Worked the first try. I used an ideal 3 wire connector for the white 3 wire connections as was not holding together when trying to push back in. I agree - a helper would have sped things up- they went to the fair today…..

Yeah, those screws are a pain! Just installed one of two 52" Dempsey fans. I wasn't sure about that grounding screw on the housing with no ground wire attached. After watching another video, I added a green wire to it, then connected 3 vice 2 ground wires. Also concerning, the instructions say there should be 8" of wires extending from the top of the canopy ... it came with way less making it difficult to wire. Works great, but has an annoying electrical hum that is louder at higher speeds. I have a 44" Dempsey in my bedroom that doesn't hum. I absolutely loved the 44" so got two 52" Dempsey's for my LR/DR. Waiting to hear back from Hunter on the hum.

Thanks for the video Ben. I just installed the same model. By the way. I tried testing with just the fan unit up and connected. It did not work. When I finished the entire assembly, it worked like a charm.

That's so funny, you happened to post this the day before mine arrived. I was curious if anyone has installed one recently. Looks like I have my answer. Thanks!

Good luck with your install.

Hope yours doesn't have a low hum like mine does. Very annoying at night when everything is quiet. Wish I had purchased a different brand. None of my Hunter Douglas fans in the past had a noticeable hum.

You should use both screws that are the same when doing this type of work.

Mine didn’t come with the adapter on the first part you assemble. Will that matter?

Do we need to attach a ground wire to the grounding screw in the metal canopy and wire nut it with all the other ground wires? You said canopy has 3 screws plus 1 ground screw but with ground screw you did not do anything?

Around abouts the 18:45 mark, I mentioned the old fixture didn't use the ground wire, but I connected the ground wire to the plate and everything else is connected to the plate via metal screws. So the chassis should be grounded. I don't think the remote control box had a ground wire if that is what you're asking.

Sorry I meant the canopy. You mentioned about that at 16:50 although did not attach a wire to it

I couldn't get it to work. The difference I noticed is 1) the instruction says: ceiling black to receiver black (here, I see Ben you connected the receiver's black to ceiling's red. I do have red on the ceiling but the internet says Black is for fan and red is for light and this model has no light) and 2) the instruction is: ceiling white to receiver's white, the fan's white is left (here, you connected all whites together). Can you or someone please clear the confusion? Thanks

I was only going off of how my old light was wired. Your wiring will surely differ. I would recommend following the instructions as closely as you can and ask an electrician if there are any differences/surprises.

@@franklylivin Do we need to install the light kit housing to test the fan? I'm pretty sure about having the right connection (checked with other fans I have installed in the house) and see that current is flowing into the light kit wires through the fan wires. Is it possible either the remote or the fan itself is faulty?
@franklylivin11 ай бұрын
@@vish3471 I know I had to install the whole thing before turning power on at the breaker to test. It's possible the remote or receiver could be bad... I found this link: www.hunterfan.com/pages/how-to-fix-a-ceiling-fan#tab-remote Obvious stuff like trying new remote battery, but the pairing steps might be something to try in case the factory put a mis-paired remote in the box.

@@franklylivin so I had to install the light housing to complete the circuit to make it work. I’m still not clear on the electrical circuit behind this. The fan has light kit but doesn’t come with the light

Do you know if it’s possible to change the frequency of the motor and remote? Two of these fans were installed in two separate rooms, but both fans operate on one remote. I need to get them each on their own frequency. I don’t have the manual, and I thought there was a switch inside the base/remote for selecting a different frequency, but there isn’t. Hoping maybe you can help. Thank you.
