Your videos are extremely helpful and confidence building. Even after buying tons of HVAC specific tools and gauges, swapping and charging a unit is still many thousands less expensive (in the D.C. area)…nearly $10k cheaper.

I just installed a mini split a few weekends ago. Thing works great! I did everything my self and its straight pro job. Even have a Surge protector defending the control boards etc... mounted to the cutoff switch. I got my 608 Type 2 so I can work on my own junk. Thanks to your channel it was a huge help to begin with.

It was a Pioneer 22 Seer... This thing sips energy. A 2 ton unit and it cost me maybe 1 to 2 bucks a day to run. Amazing inverter tech.

I agree with you. The Pioneer mini splits are very easy to install. I installed mines in my pole barn in March of 2022. I also installed the wi fi dongle and it was wonderful working in a comfortable workspace during the Summer and Winter months. An added bonus is that the unit is extremely energy effecient.

Spend it now or spend it later. Got to have that new truck or car though right? Then you can pay the bank, the car dealership, your registration/tax office, your insurance agent. Enjoy.

If i was to ever go cheap,I would say Pioneer would be the unit! First time I ever saw one was a DIY install gone bad! (Brake line flare tools are not for linesets) I reflared, nitrogen test, evacuated and charged both units! But I gotta say,the build quality was pretty darn good!

Great video. Just one thing I don't agree with. Nitrogen pressure check should always be done before evacuating. Just because it passes the decay test doesn't mean there are no leaks. Nitrogen pressure is forcing pressure out to leak test. Vacuum sucks in and can mask leaks. Also if there is the smallest leak you just contaminated the system.

Can you help with answer a mini split question? The Fujitsu unit is dripping water from the vent fins…the outdoor condensation line is dripping as normal. The unit has worked for years with no issues but all of a sudden it started dripping. Help!

I just bought a pioneer 12k btu 115v and it says max breaker 25A on the condenser. Should I be running 12g or 10g wire? And should it be a single or double pole 25A breaker? Thanks

I’ve watched a few of your videos now. I like the way you explain everything. I’m confident enough to do this myself. I’m going to install a 1200 btu unit in my garage. Can I run the line set on the inside walls and just make the hole through the concrete block on the bottom to go outside? I’d like to keep the line set more hidden, than to see from the outside. Thanks!

Yes you can do this so your line goes behind the head unit. If you need some help finding the right equipment feel free to email me at diyhvacguy@gmail.com Cheers

Beyond installing? Looks fine to me. I just bought a damaged outdoor minisplit unit from a local HVAC company for a huge discount. Looks like it was hit by a forklift but none of the internals were damaged. Should work great. I’d be negotiating a discount if possible instead of a replacement.

@diyhvacguy it's so true. I've been working with metal for +19 years. You really do get an un explainable "feel" of the metal itself through the tool. Drill, wrenches, screwdrivers, whatever it is, there is some feedback into your hands that tells you whats happening. Love your videos, I'm addicted. Lol

Ive installed 100’s of pioneers in the past 4 years. I was all for them but I have been getting leaks left and right on them and the fan motors start making noise in about 6 months. Spend the extra cash on the Mitsubishi but Ive have had issues with them also. They are all using all that cheap chinese copper in them. Pioneers are made in the Midea factory in China. Its sad to because Parker Davis used to be a reputable company and now they sell throw a ways. No reason to have pin hole leaks. Do better Parker Davis.

Oh, OK…you title it with a one day install, yet you had to return the scratch and dent junk, get another one and come back days later. How do you figure that it was a one day install? Always exaggerating.
