Here is the kit I used: BrassCraft Universal Installation Kit for Gas Range- amzn.to/3xZ6mFJ Jobs like this would be easier if you had wrenches like the one I used here- amzn.to/3NnrafS

Thanks for the vid. This is the second video where the creator mentions to not use tape/compound on the side the hose connects. Great information and know what to do now. Thank you!

That is actually not a compression fitting, it is a flared fitting. A small dab of sealer on the threads is a good idea. You're right, it doesn't seal on the threads, but it lubricates the nut when you tighten it down. Also, you be amazed at how many of those old valves are leaking a little. A gas installer told me about 30 or 40% of them leak a bit. I would change it to a 1/4 turn valve with teflon seals. Well worth the $8.00 or so it'll cost.

You can remove the storage drawer to make adjusting the legs to level easier

4:05 If that's the case what? Can the crush connection be retightened if leaking or do you get one shot at it?
@thecraigofalltrades2 жыл бұрын
Oh good catch, I skipped my thought process there. Ya if that's the case then you need to see if you can tighten more as it may be loose. Otherwise you would have to look at the connection at the threads. There may be something wrong with them there or something. But almost always if you see a leak you just need to tighten it more. Thanks for the question there, I'm sure anyone it will help anyone else having that question too.

I would sprayed the whole line as well even the Yellow!!! Great Video Bro !! I Give it a thumbs up ;👍👍👍

Safety Note! The little bracket that you referred to as an “anti-lock” is actually an “anti-tip” bracket. It’s for safety. Definitely don’t skip that step! If the oven door is open and something heavy landed on it (like a kid pressing on it) the entire range could tip over. Whatever is on top (boiling liquids) could spill on them. This could literally save your child’s life. The bracket keeps the unit firmly on the floor. Don’t skip it ;)

Great video! Btw can one adjust the legs before you attach it to the gas line? Asking bc, how do you get to the back legs if you don’t do this step first?

As a plumber/pipefitter. You dope & TAPE everything. I was always taught to use both. For gas, it’s a special Teflon tape. Usually yellow. But regardless, dope/tape every joint
@patrickmelson47455 ай бұрын
Nice. I would turn the gas off at the meter main with a sticky shut-off valve like that for extra safety.
@O-Friendly Жыл бұрын
How long should you wait for pipe dope to dry before using the stove? Is there a grace period?
@thecraigofalltrades Жыл бұрын
There really isn't any kind of cure time, you can use it right away

Thanks for the video. I didn't know about not taping the compression side. But my gas hose came with a fitting that seemed to have an orifice in it. The gasket was hard and there was crust all over it. Cant leave the picture. It was too big so i had to buy a 1/2" fitting anyway. But the one Lowes gave me to use had no orifice in it. Everything is hallow from the stove to the gas line at the wall. Does this seem right? What's the fitting with the orifice for?

It's been a few days so you probably figured it out but it's hard to help troubleshoot over youtube comments especially because I'm not able to see any kind of pic on what you're referring to. I would highly recommend you head over to www.reddit.com/r/DIY and pose your question there with the pic, or ask the guy at Lowes with the pic from your phone on what it's going to. They would be able to point you in the right direction too.

that gas valve should had been replaced , a plumber would have done that first thing , flex gas pipe good for only one use - gas valve good for ever ?

I think that might be a good idea. It was very hard to turn.

Yeah I had the same issue with my gas line for stove. The installation techs didn’t wanna touch it so I had to call a professional to install a new gas valve. Cost me like 350 now I’m here watching videos just in case the stove tech can’t install the new kit…

Thanks I did a lot of research on this model before I bought it and felt pretty comfortable with it. The funny thing with appliances like this is there are always a ton of bad reviews for all of them lol, so far I'm happy with it

@@thecraigofalltrades I had no issues for the first couple of years then the igniter stopped working, ended up replacing that twice, then after about 8 years the oven would drop temperature after heating, maybe 8 years is the average life expectancy for them but I expected better. I could have replaced the control board but figured the igniter was next so just moved on. I saw someone had a class action about them. I like Samsung monitors though, good panels :)

How about LG? I have an LG dishwasher and it is awesome. Thinking about getting an LG range.
@canela74459 ай бұрын
I loved my LG gas range. It lasted 13 years, until the touch pad started breaking apart. Then the buttons would not work and I would get an F-3 error message. The top burners were fine, never had trouble with them, but I can no longer use the oven or broiler. We looked into replacing the touchpad, but we could not find the replacement anywhere. :( That's the problem, with electronic parts. I'm looking into an analog gas range.

If you loosed the nut on the other side of gas shut off, would have made it easier. Then tighten nut back up.

ya that's fair, does the same thing. Really any cleaning product that gets bubbly would work but soap produces more bubbles to me so it's more reliable on pin hole type leaks.
