Quick tip, if you wanna save your pilot bits from getting snapped from the holesaw grabbing after the pilot falls through? Use a washer between the holesaw and your metal. Or, most of the time I just have a 1/4 bit on the side to punch my pilot hole, then throw the holesaw on to cut.

Why don't you ream the copper after you cut it with the grinder? It should always be reamed after cutting so you don't get turbulent flow.

I'm a huge fan of the adjustable shower arms... you can get at least a foot of adjustment out of these things, and you can orient the spray head to go vertical, or at an angle... For a more deluxe install, those shower hose/handle combos with the vertical bar gives *tons* of adjustment, plus you can use the handset to "take care of business". Great video, as always!

Broski if the GC/architect/interior designer/whomever else has not given you a signed scope of work with all dimensions, and is being a jerk about it…. use the NKBA Standards for your control locations (which are also IPC/UPC compliant) and set the valve body at exactly the halfway point of that range. For example a standard shower valve should be OC 38”-48” above the finished shower floor at the wall elevation (not the drain)… so set it at 43” and move on. PS … NKBA recommends controls NOT be centered w the shower head or drain… but rather moved halfway between center and the exterior, so they are much easier to reach from the room. It makes very good sense. Love your channel keep up the good work.

First broskee my shit would be crooked to start with, and then it wouldn't extend out far enough for the finish fixtures from the tile and green board, then I would probably run both hot or both cold to the same shower body, and to top it off my soldering would have issues all over. And it would probably take me 2 to 3 days to finish. Then I would just call someone to come fix it and pay triple. This guy makes it look easy.

Had a plumber STILL fuck up the depth of the mixing valve. I literally showed him what I was going to do(plumb the wall with ripped wedges) , gave him measurements, had the tile And the go board on site and he left the mixing valve set back over an inch. I had to cut the wall open behind where the shower was so he could move the plumbing forward and he only moved the valve, not the shower head, so I had to 😂. Bet your ass there was some back charging. I've worked with good and great plumbers. Then there was this guy. Keep doing good work tho, yours always looks top notch!

@SethBByrd
@SethBByrd 4 ай бұрын
Ok the depth of the body is measured using the guard attached to the body. It will let you know exactly where the body should be. Second a stud puncher, pipe inserts and GUARDS are needed if you are going through the studs.
@Dudjrkfjjffjkffu
@Dudjrkfjjffjkffu 2 ай бұрын
I use a stud punch and pipe insulators too. I have also used the Mickey Mouse straps that he has in the video. I prefer pipe insulators but they are both perfectly acceptable. Also, a lot of areas don’t require nail gaurds on metal studs. I always put them on just in case but my inspectors don’t require it
@SethBByrd
@SethBByrd 2 ай бұрын
@@Dudjrkfjjffjkffu the reason I don’t recommend Mickey Mouse inserts can be seen in this video. Most people for some reason don’t put it through the stud and you end up with unlike metals touching. Inserts are the same price if not less for a bag and offer more stability as well as full protection from the metals touching.
@Dudjrkfjjffjkffu
@Dudjrkfjjffjkffu 2 ай бұрын
@@SethBByrd except that he did use the micky mouse straps properly… there is no risk of electrolysis with the way hydronyc installed these. Either way, I am less concerned about electrolysis and more concerned about a sharp metal edge wearing away at my copper over time.
@SethBByrd
@SethBByrd 2 ай бұрын
@@Dudjrkfjjffjkffu you mean the sharp metal of the stud? If so the straps need to go through the hole and not face the outside. We can argue semantics or anyone can look up the copyright or instructions on use. Just because you think it’s correct doesn’t make it so. I listen to the makers of a thing.
@Dudjrkfjjffjkffu
@Dudjrkfjjffjkffu 2 ай бұрын
@@SethBByrd bro, watch the video again please. He put the piece of plastic through the stud. He actually did use them correctly. I think the reason he uses micky mouse straps is because they are more versatile. I’ve seen him run his plumbing on the backside of the studs a lot rather than going through the middle of them. This kind of hanger works great for both applications.
