You ought to thread a washer on that bolt between the head and the frame to ensure it's strength and reliability when towing the weight of your car. That nut holding the strap in place will wobble off of the bolt with a few years of driving vibration and fall off. A locking washer may help with your bolt spin problem and allow you to properly tighten the nut. Or a bolt with a hole running through the diameter of the bolt that a codder pin can run through below the nut would help keep that loose nut from vibrating off. There are also crimpable and lockable nuts that won't move unless you put a wrench on it.

I would probably zip tie it to the crash bar instead of drilling through it. For 1 it won’t create any permanent holes and 2 the zip ties will break long before any damage is done to the crash bar if someone actually tries to tow with that thing.
@lunaticleone8534 Жыл бұрын
I've thought about that because it's not actua)y function, and there are tow places underneath the car, just looks good

they nut is gonna work loose long before you need to use the tow strap
@Danabcde111 ай бұрын
Is that going to damage the grill if it's pulled on an angle? Also, I agree with 5784; that's a terrible pull point. If I could make a recommendation, if this is for recovery from being stuck, I would use a tree saver strap through a rim and proceed gently. If it's for towing, hire a professional flatbed service. Thanks for your video and have a good night.
@static_Tricolor_camry6 жыл бұрын
There's an easier way to bolt the strap on before putting the Front bumper cover back on tie a long string to the strap then pull the string over the bottom grill so when you reinstall the Front bumper cover you only have to pull the string and it hangs like it should then cut the string and it's done plus you can tighten the bolt to the frame just remember that bolt will become loose overtime and you'll lose that strap when you're driving

Late to this party, somehow I stumbled on this video after learning that cars not in America actually do have tow locations behind the bumper. Never knew that. I assume the origin of this here look is for people in those places to keep those locations (maybe a law thing) with custom bumpers. Now it just saddens me that people without that need still try to replicate it. Spending money and effort on something that isn't even functional. To look cool I guess to a country full of the same posers. Velcro a nylon loop on your grill. In the gun world, this would be like mounting a flashlight that doesn't have any internals.

@Cams-garage8 жыл бұрын
I highly recommend taking the bumper off, it will be much easier to install. Unless you wanted to you may be able to drill a hole in the bumper and put it through that, it just might not be as sturdy and definitely not functional. Also if your car has a factory tow hook on the front of the car through the bumper you can attach it to that.
@ashleyknight29_8 жыл бұрын
ThatTRDrolla I only want to use it for the visuals so that would be fine!

I have a 2012 Corolla LE. Lately I've been going on long distance day trips(1 to 1 and a half hour drives) on the highway cruising at like 75-80mph, but the rpm is at 3,000 the whole time because of the 4 speed automatic. Is that bad on the 4 speed since the rpm is at 3,000 for that long? Thanks.

If your only doing it for looks just use cable ties. If your actually going to use it, NEVER do what this guy is doing. Use the correct tow either located front or rear of your car. To me this is a waste of time and energy, if he tries to tow that scrapper it's going to rip the front of the car off.
