I have to replace a 350' run of 3/4" copper and 3/4" galvanized (mixed combo with connection unknown location) pipe from a city water meter pit to the house basement wall. I'm going to upsize to 1-1/2" directly off the meter and go into the basement with that. I'm also going to T off the 1-1/2" somewhere outside and run a line to a freeze proof yard hydrant near the swimming pool so I have plenty of flow there when needed. My questions are: can I get 20' or longer lengths of the PVC pipe, is the built in bell end special order and do you just use typical PVC glue and procedures for the connections? Thanks for a good video that gets right to the point.

Sarcasm has its joyful, rightful place, but *this* 4-min video was "*WHAT MATERIAL SHOULD I BUY*" --in the context of a "HOW TO INSTALL..." video series. Did it accomplish that goal of advising you of options and recommendations of what to buy? I thought it did.

Is the "roll pipe" you are referring to called HDPE? I need to tee off an existing frost-free hydrant to a second location. I doubt there would ever be a time when both hydrants are in-use simultaneously, but it would be a total of 600'-0" run through 1" O.D. black pipe. Any suggestions?

Does the Black-Poly-Roll-Pipe :: have a Better Description, as most Black-Poly-Roll-Pipe is coming up "DRAIN" piping only. I am looking for potable water from a main to house that offers flexibility as it needs to go 200ft.
@WendellLeeWellServices5 жыл бұрын
Look up ADS Black Roll Pipe, it should be rated for 160 psi and isn't "drain" roll pipe

Do you recommend a conduit to protect water line and for ease of replacement down the road?

No a conduit for the water line is not necessary

We usually only place it in another conduit if it is going to be in a place that is difficult or expensive to replace. Under a cemented/paved driveway or area, or under road crossings it is required around here.
@WendellLeeWellServices6 жыл бұрын
@@kennykemp2790 agreed, we do the same thing. always sleeve it under a driveway, crossing, or going through a foundation wall.

Is there a specific type of pvc pipe that's okay for running potable water?
@jeffm27874 жыл бұрын
From what I understand it's not allowed in most states for potable water, perhaps that's changed. Also lots of 'people' saying it leaches chemicals. Then again the same 'people' say that about PEX and Poly as well. I suspect they all do.

Would you use 1 1/8” or 1” or 3/4” Schedule 40?

CVPC..for hot water too ..how strong is it..I am using for my under ground ..maybe in freeze it will hold not break as soon as regular PVC??//Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride is a thermoplastic produced by chlorination of polyvinyl chloride resin, which is significantly more flexible and can withstand higher temperatures than standard PVC. Uses include hot and cold water delivery pipes and industrial liquid handling

I live in California near Tahoe. We do have some freezing below 25, but our ground does not freeze, is schedule 40 okay to use for a underground water? thank you
@WendellLeeWellServices5 жыл бұрын
Oh yea, it gets used all the time around here. Our frost line isn't that deep here but we do get several nights a year below 20 degrees. You should be fine, sounds like similar climate to where we are.

What do you recommend using as a base material below and on top of the schedule 40 PVC for someone living in a large to medium size rocky area? 2. I just saw they make a schedule 80 pvc pipe and cost is not a deal breaker. Why would i not want to use that instead?

I need to replace my main water line and want to go with PVC, Im interested in the Schedule 40. We have a frost line here in Maryland so we have to bury them 3 feet deep, can this pipe handle this environment? Also, what is the average life of this pipe?

@@ByronReyesFCBarca I'm going with type A PEX. But if you do go with copper definitely go with type K.
@watchingthecrazyworld77613 жыл бұрын
@@ByronReyesFCBarca The reason I'm going with the type A pex is because I will have no joints or connections under ground. It expands much better than copper and its cheaper. Also, you will have sweat joints with copper and K is thicker than L.
@ByronReyesFCBarca3 жыл бұрын
@@watchingthecrazyworld7761 I thought L was thicker than K, I must have not researched well. I've heard of Pex for main water line but not sure I want to go that route, the galvanized that I currently have is about 71 years old so I believe the copper will Last me longer
