How to Install a Water Pressure Gauge on an Outboard Engine (Mechanical)

I'm a gauges and dials man myself, I love the look of a dash covered in information, no buttons or systems, just at a glance info. You get a picture of normal use in your head, the second one is not in the right position or a buzzer goes off, problems can be tracked almost instantly. I know electronics do exactly the same, in my view the dials look way nicer on a boat, that's more than likely because I'm an old boats man. We have a 50 Yr old wide body steadecraft 16 with a 90 Yamaha, she's a good old boat that looks and pilots pretty well, to good to sell. Every Yamaha dial works perfectly since she was repowered sometime in the early 90s, still runs like a swiss watch, magical reliability.

Daniel, when connecting the white tubing to the water pressure gauge itself, do I leave that little metal INSERT in the white tubing before sliding on the compression fitting, followed by the ferrel, followed by inserting the white tubing in the fitting, then tighten?

Yes, you need to frond the correct spot to install it
