Emustation in GNU/Linux do not provide a good default configuration, and I did not find a web page to download it from. Copying the batocera one, it is text, (installing it and accessing from my main system (Manjaro KDE)) was my solution. I did not try the MS WOS version, but I suppose their default config can be improved with the batocera - or others - one.

This method doesn't seem to work anymore. The core is listed in the Steam app as the name of the dll without the license. It does not associate it as a PS2 core.

Rertroarch will give you an error regarding Mii Data. You have to place the missing files & folders inside "..Retroarch/Saves/Citra/SHITGOESHERE" Where do you get those missing Mii Data files? Google & KZbin searches for "How to fix citra error Mii Data is missing"

This is frustrating. They must of updated it because you follow the guide to a tee. It won't show a License it says N/A in the load cores. If you could give us an answer on how to fix this than we can use it.

No luck this end on a Steam Deck. I copied the cores and the relevant info files. Tried Citra, PPSSPP and PCSX2. The cores just don't show at all in the Core list. Is this a Steam Deck issue or has something in the Steam version of RetroArch been patched out?

Fixed my own issue of being stupid.... needed the linux cores. I installed both versions on the deck so easily to transfer between the two. Worthwhile as standalone version has crackly audio

The cores i add dont show up on the steam version with names. pcsx2 doesnt show up as Sony - Playstation 2 (PCSX2) but as just the name of the file i put there. it also doesnt work despite that i already gave it a bios

You would have to manually update the cores. Actually I don't know, but if Retroarch doesn't do it then that would be the only other way.

from what i experience, copying the standalone retroarch's core doesnt make it work on steam's core. There seems to be other files that are required as i noticed every core in steam's retroarch has it's own respective license and source file. This is steam's doing so best way rn to play psp and ps2 is using standalone's retroarch until hopefully steam releases cores for both of them

For all the newer commenters, IDK if PCSX2 is even compatible with the newer updates of retroarch, since the standalone version of Retroarch has the new Play! core option. I did all the steps and it won't recognize the PCSX2 as a core still, but I was able to transfer over the newer core to the Steam version. Same steps of just copying over the files from BOTH the dll files and the info files. LMK if I am wrong cuz I still wanna use PCSX2

If you're good with the cores that the steam version offers, I'd stay use that because of cloud saves. I'll be doing a video later on with the "remote play together" feature if you have some friends you'd like to play with. But if you like the ultimate in customizability and core selection, standalone is the way to go.

So how do I know which is for what system? Like I want an XBox emulator, and I know DirectXBox is one (apparently) and it's not in the list. Also I don't see any options for Wii, or PS3, or PS4, or XBox 360, or Switch, etc.

Somehow the core appears when launching it, however if i then go to load content, select any rom it crashes. If I go to import content straight away, Playstation 2 doesn't appear as system. I can only launch these roms if I straight up go to "load content" before doing anything else, and selecting the core to run it from; however it runs poorly in terms of audio. Anyone got any idea what I could do from here? Tried everything's on this channel and comments as of today already.

I tried with duckstation and didn't worked that way... folowed these steps, and duckstation through retroarch keeps not reconizing the bios, so i putted the bios only on the "system" folder, it worked, but it runs in native resolution justa as "PSCX reARMed", so there's no meaning, i want to upscale to 1080p... there's no sense nowdays to play emulators without the enhancements...

My PS2 Bios keeps undoing itself. Ill have it in and it will play, but once i turn the computer off, it undoes itself. Anyone run into that problem? I just put the bios back and its fine but thats going to become tedious after a while

TLDR; Don't install Steam Retroarch, it's garbage. Use desktop, otherwise you won't have the option to install a majority of cores like PCSX2 (absent from the list on steam retroarch) as well as a plethora of other cores. manually installing it wreaks havoc and won't work for most users.

Doesn't work. Followed the exact steps for PCSX2 and it won't find the iso's at all when I scan, when I find them manually and try to run them it wants me to choose a suggested core and it doesn't give me the pcsx2 option despite the fact it's under the cores list so it's clearly there. RetroArch is shit and I've had nothing but issues with it. I follow every step (it's easy not rocket science) on guides I find yet it won't find my shit when scanning and doesn't even pick up most roms despite the roms being good.

I’ve been using Steam Link to play remotely on my phone while I’m away from home (lunch break at work for example), and controller support is somewhat iffy on anything that is not optimized for Remote Play. Especially for non-Steam games, if I exit the Steam Link app to respond to a text etc. and come back, sometimes it completely breaks controller support and it gets stuck like that until I get home to manually exit the program. Haven’t had that problem with Steam RetroArch so far.

@@yetix6314 one of the first things i did was to move my stand alone saves folder to the steam saves folder and watch them all sync to steam's cloud storage. Good to know my memcards, srm, .sav etc are all backed up forever now.

I have been using the steam version and it works good and convenient. I probably won't manually install cores at the moment as I am fine with it now. Mostly playing Saturn and 64 games.

Couldn't get Dolphin to work.. just dragged the entire standalone RetroArch folder over and replaced everything in Steam. Works fine, if it replaced any settings I had before I don't mind manually changing them back, but N64 seem to still run exactly how they did before with same graphics settings, controls, etc.

Ok. So I’m having an issue here. Hope u can reply quick to this 1 year old video. I’m using a steam deck, I added my favorites to the steam library with cover art and all and even created some playlists. Now recently, I wanted to upscale my snes games and wanted to use bsnes to upscale my snes games. Steam is currently using another core…snes9x…but I want to switch it. I see ur video explains how u can change it within RetroArch. I’ve done that but loading games from my steam library section won’t use the changes I’ve made within RetroArch. I see it’s using RetroArch to run the games but how do I manage to change the core running games from my steam library? I can’t seem to figure it out. Is there a way? Please help! Thanks in advance

I got everything set up, but I get a "ROM size exceeds maximum permitted value" error. Edit: Nevermind, lol. Saw the comment about copying over the .info file and it works now. That's pretty important.
