One of the other posters has a very valid point. The holes are very small in the flange. I love the product but the trouble I went through to mount this to a brick wall was frustrating. All of the trouble could be alleviated by a slightly wider flange with bigger holes.

I was pretty nervous when I saw that Home Depot only had this type of connector for replacing the hose spigot on my home. I hadn't used these before, and it seemed too simple for me to easily trust. Also, my copper pipe was all cruddy and old and not really smooth. After a half-arsed cleaning/polish with a not-especially-fine foam sanding block for wood, I wiped it clean, and shoved the new spigot on. No leaks .. seems to work great :)

I just installed a 12 inch frost free SB in upstate NY. Worked pretty smooth , but I had to revise the copper supply pipes to make it work. Used SB couplings for that. My 10 plus year experience with these fittings is no leaks. I think their deburring and measurement tool is a must to ensure the ability to insert to the proper length. I only solder now if “off line” . The added benefit is that fittings allow a swivel to position.

Does anybody know if the sharkbite sillcock can withstand the cold winter in the North East, like let's say New York? Not sure what the rating for winter is and if the rubber ring/stainless steel teeth that crimps to the copper pipe would last in the hot and cold weather of the Northern part of States.

SharkBite hose bibbs are approved for use in hot and cold climates such as in the New York. The EPDM rubber O-ring and stainless steel grab ring in our products will not be negatively affected by the cold/hot weather in these areas. It will be important to make sure that any water inside the valve or surrounding pipe is not allowed to freeze as frozen water expands and can create pressure that can cause failures. We also offer a SharkBite frost free sillcock that has the shut-off located at the valve’s inlet to keep the water inside the heated area of the house and prevent it from freezing.

That’s the angled siding wedge. When installing on the surface of an outer wall, this piece is what ensures the line can be fully drained before the winter hits. The wedge angles the sillcock 5° so the water drains properly. While this video didn’t show the Frost-Free Sillcock installation specifically, it’s the same process-Just be sure the wedge is installed along with the valve.

Shark Bite I was going to purchase this item at Home Depot last night but there is a major design flaw. The holes for the screws to mount this to a building will not accept the smallest of masonry screws. I can’t be the only one with this issue, half of all installs might be to masonry.

Could you drill the holes a little bigger? Check out Supply House . Com. They make a mounting plate that you put behind the faucet which has another set of mounting holes that go further out.

I mounted an 1/4" aluminum plate to the masonry then mounted the shark bite to that with machine screws.

@@AStanton1966 Easy. Design it with tube attached, like regular frost-free designs. Then, you’d have access to the PEX or whatever connection inside the house.
