@@banana_bg5016 have you watched the video? Also, just know that you download the media creation tool. Once you download it, from the internet, you install the media creation tool, from your hard drive or SSD which creates the Windows 10 installation media with a thumb drive. Once you do that, you boot from your newly created media creation thumb drive that you installed from a file you downloaded from the internet, and you install windows 10 from the thumb drive.

So I used to be an IT Specialist in the U.S. Army, did it for three years, but I came here to brush up on my knowledge because I haven't done any partitioning or any home hardware installation since around 2010 and the PC World is a completely different landscape than what it was when I last visited. But I say all of that to say this: After seeing your comment section and watching your video, I have to say that I am really impressed. Not only with your knowledge but with your connection to your audience. Seeing you interact with everyone and answer people's questions while also having immediate knowledge of where they should go if they have any further questions is heartwarming enough to fry my circuits. Hahaseewutididthere. Anyway. You've easily earned a sub and a like and although I may not use your videos as often as you might like, whenever someone asks me about the best KZbinrs I know, you're definitely going in the top ten. Thanks for showing the human side of the content creator. Best of luck in future endeavors. Cheers!

well thank you so much my friend, I do greatly appreciate it more than you might know. It's comment's like these that keep us creators going, at least the ones that care about the people and their passion. I come from a long PC background, starting when I was 13, then working as Product Development at Alienware for years, then later Dell bought us and I went to Velocity Micro. After velocity Micro, I couldn't leave that passion behind, but i wasn't going to move my family again, so I decided to start reviewing, not only for my passion to keep everything up to date, but to help people, no one was around to help me when I was younger, and as you know, the internet didn't really exist, so I wanted to help everywhere with the resources I never had to make their lives a little easier. In between 13 and Alienware, I had various jobs driving around fixing and upgrading peoples computers and training young and old how to use computers, and its great seeing people fall in love with computers, some of which a computer was their only way to communicate with the world. My passion and training others, seeing the joy and value it brought in peoples lives is the reason I do this, and you thanking me (which does not happen very often on here) is that joy, and it really does validate it all, thank you. Thanks so much for the sub as well. Also, thank you for your service, I know you might not get a lot of thanks for it, but you put your life on the line for me, my family and a trillion other people you don't know and that is pretty awesome my friend. I do appreciate your kind words my friend and well wishes, I hope all the best for you as well.

@@ThisBytesForYou Wow. What a beautiful and eloquent reply. I would say I was speechless (and I was initially) but there is so much to be said. While we're on the topic of our mutual love of machines, my father was, and still is, a Network Administrator at a hospital in my home town, a very poor place called Rocky Mount, NC (It was listed in Forbes Magazine as one of the top ten poorest cities in the nation in 2008, I believe.) and his job there is what moved my mother and I from Jacksonville, FL (My birthplace) to NC and after a few years of working there (and divorcing my mother and getting a new wife), he ended up opening his own PC repair business in the early to mid-nineties. I had always had a love for electronic interaction (got my first Nintendo Entertainment System when I was 2 or 3) and it was around that time that I started to really fall in love with the PC for more than just gaming. My father taught me how to use Microsoft Access so I could build databases to keep track of my cheat codes for every game I had them for. I know that makes it sound like my father and I had a lovely relationship, but it wasn't as glamourous and after him teaching me only a few things like that, I started looking into how I could learn more on my own because other than my dad, who didn't help me much, I didn't have anyone else to show me the inner workings of computers. I had a troubled childhood and this was reflected in my schooling and I ended up dropping out when I was sixteen and going to the community college for an Associate's in Information Technology. At this point I had my first child and my ex-wife was pregnant with my second, and I was working two jobs so I had to drop something. I ended up withdrawing from school and working for a few years and then I joined the Army. I was in for three years and after getting out I pursued my other love, music. I ended up playing in a band for two years and then when that ended I worked a lot of odd jobs as a bartender/server/painter/etc. but nothing I've tried really stuck with me like computers did. So now, I'm currently taking a few home courses from Udemy in Game Development. I figure if you take all of my artistic talents in writing, music, and drawing and mix them with my IT background and my love for video games, I'm a shoe in for an indie game developer. In fact, I bought the SSD to specifically keep Unreal Engine 4 and all of my development kit stored on it. Anyway, I always enjoy a good course of conversation and I really do appreciate you thanking me for my service. I don't hear it much, but as much as I enjoy hearing it, I always tell people to remember to also thank our doctors, teachers, mentors, etc. for their service to the community because even though my brothers and I in uniform make a difference abroad, those are the people who make a difference here. I'm glad I could make your job worth it. And it's good to see things like this because as a side project of mine, I've just recently started a KZbin channel of my own where I narrate CreepyPastas from around the web. I'm just now (this week) starting to work on the videos because I've been busy doing other things. But anyway, thank you again for the good conversation. Hopefully we'll talk again soon. Oh, by the way. My name is Jeff. Figured since we're friends now (lol), I'd introduce myself. It's a pleasure meeting you. Have a good one!

Is it best to boot off an SSD? Does that mean windows need to be installed on the startup drive? I have heard during startup is much quicker with an SSD.
@ThisBytesForYou3 жыл бұрын
starting off a mechanical drive, an HDD can take 30 seconds or more, starting off of an SSD will take anywhere between 3 and 12seconds. Windows working is tons faster on an SSD as well.

For the RAM, if you set XMP or DOCP you should be good, it will automatically set itself, you might have to play with it a little, but the defaults will be there. Excellent video! I like how transparent and professional your presentation is, it quelled a lot of the doubts I was having. I also appreciate that you not only explained how to plug it in and where, but also explained how to configure it to work. I'm about to install a new ssd, first time doing anything like this! I wanna make sure, if you already have windows installed on a hdd and you are converting your boot drive to an ssd and are reinstalling windows on it, you don't have to have a product key or anything? You can just install it again if it was previously already installed on the pc? Thanks.

AWesome my friend, so very happy I could help you and that you enjoyed and found this video beneficial. Thank you so much not only for checking the video, maybe liking it too but taking time out of your day to let me know that it helped you and even went into great detail on how it helped you, it means the world to me. so on that machine, if you installed windows 10 on that machine, or if the machine is for example an HP or a Dell, that came with windows 10, you will be fine. You can use this video to make the latest (I always recommend making a new drive to cut down on windows updates) windows 10 thumb drive: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWiYanxteaeLmpo While you are installing, it will ask you for a key, just click skip and continue through this video and you should be good, it will be activated when you get in. If you did put in a key way back when, the same should still work, but if you want to see what that key is, you can run this command line in a command prompt wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey Now, I dont recommend cloning, but if you NEED to, you can check out this video, and make sure to check out the description for the correct link to the software: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWesq6yreMd-a8U Let me know how it goes for you.

@@ThisBytesForYou Sure thing! Subbed and liked! I see, thanks for answering my question. Now at least I'm not worried about the activation thing anymore ^^ Another question, I hope it's not too much bother and sorry if this is a silly question, but with the power supply cable, I can use any of those plugs along the wire to hook up to my ssd? As a quick question, I bought an SSD and want to use it for just my OS while keep my other files (games, etc...) on my hdd. Currently I have windows 10 installed on my hdd but if I use this method to re-install it onto ssd will it keep all my other files and games on my hdd or erase them? if so how can I work around that. Thank you!
@ThisBytesForYou3 жыл бұрын
Installing Windows 10 on the SSD, will be a brand new drive, nothing on it except the windows you installed on it. If booting from the SSd, you can still access the files from the other drive (as long as it is connected) but the installs will not work, as the registry entries and files it may have installed will not be able to be interpreted by the other drive, so you will have to reinstall all the games and such but it is a great way to keep files you need to copy over. There are methods to make your steam, Origin, Epic, Rockstar, etc work on your new install, but it is a bit lengthy to describe here.

you dont, you can add another drive as you have the machine now, but having windows 10 on an SSD will improve overall performance of your machine. If you don't want to reinstall windows, just follow the portion where I mention disk manager, of course after you install the drive physically.
