hi sir medina, thanks for the tutorial, just to let you know sir i have fortiOS running on my workstation they are on the same network, the connected pc on the active directory seems ignoring my firewall policies is it something to do with the server policies? i kinda new to this sir hehe

1. Policy Configuration: Ensure that your firewall policies are correctly configured and applied to the relevant interfaces and addresses. Sometimes, policies might not be applied if there's a mismatch or misconfiguration. 2. Group Policy Settings: Since your PC is on an Active Directory (AD) domain, it's possible that Group Policy settings are overriding your local firewall policies. Check the Group Policy settings to see if there are any rules that might be conflicting with your firewall settings. 3. DNS Resolution: If you're using Fully Qualified Domain Names (FQDN) in your firewall policies, make sure that your FortiGate can resolve these names correctly You can verify the DNS cache on your FortiGate to ensure it's functioning properly 4. Policy Order: Firewall policies are processed in order, so make sure your relevant policy is placed higher in the list than any conflicting policies. 5. Logging and Debugging: Enable logging and debugging on your FortiGate to get more detailed information about why the policies might not be enforced. You can use commands like “diag debug flow” to troubleshoot the traffic flow.
