Mary Beth, our columns are hollow also and the mounting bracket is holding up find.

You're welcome. COSTCO has great flags and so far they've all been made in the US.

Maybe. You could sand the inside of the holder, which may help. Mine was a bit rough on the inside until I took the flag pole in and out a couple of times.

What side of the house do you hang the US flag on? The left of the porch or the right? The left of the garage or the right? which area is proper?

As you exit the front door: Hang the flag to the right From the street: Hang the flag to the left Centered on the house: Find a prominent position, such as away from the door but centered on the house

How do you make sure it does not wrap around the pole? Keeps happening for me... seems the ring on the top does not go around when the flag is turning over, so when the bottom ring does turn but not the top one, the flag wraps.

Interesting, I've not had that problem. If the angle is too steep it could bind. I've installed 6 different brands and not had issues. You could use a toothbrush and clean out anything that migh be binding the groove. Then hit the toothbrush with some silicon spray or plumbers lube and work it into the groove to reduce the friction.

Traditionally, you can hang the flag to the right as you exit the front door or to the left when viewed from the street.

Not for my situation, the mounts are holding up great. If you were installed in brick anchors would be a good idea.

Bought mine... However, got 60 mph straight line winds the first day. Good news, bracket held great. the weak aluminum pole bent at the seam of bracket..

interesting. you could put a chain on the bottom. Or grease the pole. Run a long padlock through the post? Crazy someone would steal your flag. Not cool.

@@MakeItorBreakItNow My dad figured it out he drilled it and put a screw in it, no way they can pull it out. Also got a ring door bell too.
