Prior to On-Spot, I chained many fire trucks and ambulances. I see these as lighter, somewhat cleaner, and the flat on your back buckle tightening is gone. I previously saw a company video on how well they worked, and for similar performance, these are certainly cleaner and easier to apply. Good idea.

Great post! I have looked at these they are perfect for RV use. Was the air suspension down at the beginning of the video? I noticed the gap increase when you applied the sock. I would raise the suspension anyway to allow more room for the application of the sock. I was curious, have you seen any evidence that these could work in sand? I could not fine any tests of this type. Boon-docking in the desert can have its challenges also.

+Roger Paul Good eagle-eye Mr Paul! Yes, the air was down at the beginning of the video. When I went to put the autosocks on I had just idled Chief and he was aired up. I always build the bed sides so you can get your arms in there easily to put on the autosocks (even with a bulky jacket on). Thanks for watching and commenting!

I agree Robert! The best part in my experience has been untangling them. I never have nice chain hangers, so they are always in a bucket. It is the best pulling a set of triples out, in the dark, cold hands, and trying to figure out how the heck they got all tangled and weaving them this way and that to get them straight. Ugh.

Hi Ben, yes, I saw the same episode. I know that every US state and Canadian province that requires "traction devices" in the winter has investigated, and approved these as a replacement for tire chains. I guess everyone has their own opinion. Thanks for taking the time to post that information.

Hello DesRex Transport. My research suggested that they were approved. I certainly don't want to be stating something inaccurate, and I appreciate you taking the time to post your understanding of their compliance. Could you perhaps share your references that state these are "illegal" in British Columbia? In my research the British Columbia Motor Vehicle Act was amended on September 2015 to specifically state that as per their definition of section 7.001 (a) (iv) that a commercially approved traction device includes "a textile tire cover." Here is a direct link to the Motor Vehicle Act amendment: media.wix.com/ugd/09a108_38fda25775a6441cbd50ebe1004d123f.pdf My research with the British Columbia Trucking Association suggested that yes, these are approved for use in winter. Still illegal in BC It's unfortunate that real chains are gross. If you use the excuse about chains might damage your paint, what do you think BC's DOT response will be? Smdh
