Nice work man! Love the cleanliness of it all. But not once have I ever heard anyone say “god is in the details”😂 until now. Keep up the good work my dude!

Totally agree with you. The details on more traditional homes give such character and warmth. Newer builds are lacking in that area IMHO. Great job!! Very clean.

That rolled in quite nicely. I usually use a scrap of tongue board to tap against with seating the T&G boards. That sure is a high end job you are working on. It sure is going to be a nice one when it’s finished.

Beadboard will never get old. Always liked it in ceilings. Even works with a nautical theme.
@Tkm112093evadell3 жыл бұрын
Only good to do if you’ve got good framers and drywall guys to insure that ceiling is as flat as possible. I’ve seen to many BBoard installs that follow that nautical theme too much and the whole things turn out a wavy mess 😂
@joebrown13823 жыл бұрын
@@Tkm112093evadell You are right. Not the best with bad framing. When done right I still like it.
@Tkm112093evadell3 жыл бұрын
@@joebrown1382 deep down I definitely love the look of a proper BBoard install but have learned to dislike it over the year because of how many installs are either done poorly or on bad framing. New construction is fine typically, but older houses from 1979 and before are done terribly because the contractor doesn’t shim/mud the ceiling flat before hand.
@joebrown13823 жыл бұрын
@@Tkm112093evadell My house is over 65 years old. There is a place in a bedroom ceiling that has a poorly milled joist. There is a big hump if you cross the joists with a straight edge. Could never beadboard this.
@Tkm112093evadell3 жыл бұрын
@@joebrown1382 I agree, unless you were to have a drywall guy come out skim out the whole thing with one of those 36” skim tools. Or tear out the drywall and fir everything flat. But at that point is it worth it to put bead on it? Haha probably not.

watching you and your helper bang directly on the beadboard .....that must be some hard stuff. When I do any T and G (flooring, wainscot, ceiling) I was taught to cut a small piece of the material and put that in the groove and bang on that to set the piece thereby eliminating the worry of damaging the finish piece. Regardless, that ceiling looks great.

Richard, Up North (New York-Long Island) we use WIndsorOne for mostly interior projects. It's a great product but how come you didn't use Azek Board or any other plastic board product. At 2:26, you use a tape measure to measure the ceiling width, but sometimes you use the laser measure for this. Any reason why you wouldn't use the laser in this case? Is it less accurate?
@timmietimmins37803 жыл бұрын
Probably didn't have it on him, I would guess. I also use the disto d2. It is not accurate in the first few inches past the end (doesn't seem to focus properly, or maybe the eye is not looking at the same point the laser is aimed at, as they are two different devices on the end), but beyond that, it is bang on. At that range, I would expect it to be accurate to the 32nd. The manufacturer only guarantees it to 1.5mm (which is nearly a sixteenth) but I suspect that's out at it's 300 foot rated range. At short distances like that, you can get it to measure to the 32nd and it seems to be basically bang on. Warning though, I am referring to the laser on his saw stand in the last video at the start, the black and red Leica. His amazon referral links link to a completely different laser (one of the bosch lasers), which are MUCH cheaper tools I have no experience with.

I like it. Those boards are primed pine correct? And about 3 1/4” wide? How much per lineal foot does a board like that cost? I’m a carpenter of 25 years and all of the T&G we get here is hard to work with. It’s bowed and warped and has crappy looking knots and cracks and things. Makes it a lot easier to go perpendicular to the joists. If the preference was to go with the joists then nailing strips would need to be installed to make that happen
