I appreciate your cleanliness. Most people do not care to keep the area clean and it has a greater failure rate then. Kudos to you my man!!!!!

I used the stainless clamps that don't have the perferations. I built the tool from other KZbin videos. Works great for a strong heatproof zip tie!
@martinbuilt3 жыл бұрын
I did have some of the stainless steel zip ties but didn't have the tool and wasn't able to pull them tight enough to get it to keep the grease from coming out so I went to the traditional method of using the CV boot clamps.

As long as the products weren't in your shopping cart prior to going through my link. You can have it on your wish list; just don't have it in your shopping cart before going through my link. Cool! I am working on a 2000 Tundra, inspection said bad CV boots. There is grease present, not nearly as much or as wide spread as yours, it is concentrated exactly at the clamp area, as if it came right out at that exact point. Also, it is not wet looking come to think of it. Hell it could have leaked out some time before the last boot failed. I think I am going to clean the boot, look hard for damage, and then put a new clamp on that end. I have the sort of tool you use here, but I have had mixed luck the few times I have used it. I wonder what the best brand of clamp to use with that style is
@bradleycrenshaw67783 жыл бұрын
Thank you sir !!!! Did i see a ball bearing rolling around in the grease just inside the boot on the right?
@martinbuilt3 жыл бұрын
I checked the video, I see what you may think is a ball bearing but, I am sure that is all just grease.

Does it matter what direction you place the clamp with respect to rotation of the axle? Also is there any need to cut off excessive length of the band before installing it?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.Two months ago, i had replaced both side of the inner tirod of my 2011 chevy equinox. The orignal clamps were damaged and i could not find ones at any local auto parts shop. I ended up using a regular clamp instead.Yesterday While i was driving down the highway, my vehicle was shaking really bad. I turned around back home to check what was going one, i notice both inner tirod boots were twisted really bad. Could it be the reason i did not use original boots clamps? Both inner look good with no play at all but i could not figure out what had caused them to be twisted that bad. Thanks in advance for your reply.
@martinbuilt2 жыл бұрын
Hello I'm wondering if perhaps when you put the clamps on you didn't have the steering wheel fully to the right or left at the time you install the clamps then when recentering the wheel it causes a twist on the boots.
@obedvilbert17462 жыл бұрын
Im not sure if I did put the steering fully to the right or left. I forgot to mention not only boots were twisted bad and they came off. Despite they were twisted, they were not damaged or town apart. I straight them out and put the clamps back on but I made sure they are tight and secure. I took the vehicle to a shop for further inspection. They said everything look good and the vehicle needed alignment. I tested drive and it seems running fine. Thanks for the reply and I really appreciated it.
