How to install Linux on Chrome OS

This video will show you how to install Linux on Chrome OS. Linux is an excellent addition to Chrome OS but it isn't available as standard. To use Linux you need to install it.
Once you've installed Linux you need to do a few more things to ensure your terminal is up to date.
There are a few ways to install programs once Linux is installed on your Chromebook. I'll discuss these options and show you the easiest way, which is by installing a Linux App store.

I had the same thing happen in 1994. Except not for Linux. I had not been using MacIntosh for long and I accidentally dropped a file somewhere that wasn't my floppy disk. So, in looking for the document I'd been working on so as to not have to rewrite 3 days worth of report, I just went through local storage to see if I could find it. Unfortunately, the teacher saw me outside of the nanny software that was somehow logged out of on my workstation and I was whisked away from the desk into the Assistant Principal's office and immediately banned from the computer systems. I gave them the explanation what I was doing, told them I didn't know properly how to operate a Mac, but they were busy and not answering my requests for help. No matter, I was banned, labeled a "hacker" (as if!!!) and I had to hand-write my assigned document from the remaining notes. After I was banned from the class, I was even kicked out of the school for unrelated injustices, and weeks later my report on False Allegations, Arrests, and Convictions was found. Ironic, eh? But alas, they'd already forced me out to my freedom and I didn't want to go back!

'sudo apt update' only checks for packages that can be upgraded after that you need to run 'sudo apt upgrade' or you can use 'sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade' to do them both one after another, you can if you like add -y at the end of the upgrade command to automatically say yes as the upgrade runs.

I own Asus Chromebook 64Gb.Chrome OS ver 21.069 is 20 Gb and Linux (Bookworm) = 27 Gb. Leaves 17 Gb and i havent updated/upgraded+ Flatpaks and 3 apps. Why not store on a usb card ?

When you are updating a Linux system you need to so sudo apt (for Debian and ubuntu) update and also sudo apt upgrade. To upgrade the system packages.

the app store dosn´t work on my chromebook. its all blank with saying " No application found" My chrome book is an Lenovo AMD A6. half the code dont work ether in linux codes as simple af ls just saying. "command not found". nether the virtual box or linux work´t on my macbook air.....sooo what to do :) ohh and the linux and virtuel box dos not connect om my AMD to, nether on the MC air.

hello, i have a Acer chromebook 15, and i'm having a hard time getting into linux, i've tried a lot of other video's with different ways, and none seems to work, the terminal app not giving me any access to linux neither, so i can't get to update my chromebook, please can you help me with this.

Sorry I can't help because I have no idea of your system specific issues and what you have and have not done. If you've installed Linux the terminal should work. Are you clicking on the penguin option once you've loaded the terminal? You need to do this now where you did not have to do so. I'm not sure whether that is your issue. Best thing to do is to Google your issue and I'm sure others with the same issue might be able to help. Hope you get it fixed.
