unforturnately that's not possible, the newer versions of ctgpr have checks before booting the game that make sure the disc is in, older versions don't have this so that's why you're able to play an older version of it.

Guys I found a mod thats basically the latest version of CTGP with all the new tracks its called "Mario Kart fun 09-2018" just google it u will find it and download it and also download the regular mario kart iso then put it inside the new folder (mario kart wii fun) the click on create new image .bat and follow what it tells u it will take a while like 20 mins then u will find a new folder thats called new image click on it then u find a weird looking file which i think has 38 at the end u just drag it to WBFS folder in ur USB and ur good u can plug it into ur wii and run it

this doesn’t work with the most recent version of ctgp-r which is 1.3, you need a wii/wii u and legitimate mario kart wii disc to play it :(

I know this is an old video and probably no one will read this but, I've downloaded the Mario Kart Wii ISO from multiple different places, even dumped my physical disc onto my usb and converted it from WBFS to ISO multiple times and EVERY single time I try to unzip the downloads or conversions using WBFS to ISO I get the same error message. "Archive is in an unknown format or may be damaged or corrupt." But every other ISO I've downloaded for the Wii has worked without a single issue. Mario Kart Wii is the only game I have a problem with. Can someone please help?

Unfortunately I’ve downloaded it all in one portion from multiple sites and I’ve tried taking the rip from my game disc and and transferring it from WBFS to ISO and I get the same issue. Using WiiBackupManager I can transfer it to CISO but not ISO. When I try to change it to ISO, it says it completes instantly but the file isn’t found in the designated folder or anywhere else.

I take the iso-file with the Wii Backup Mananger on my Wii harddrive, and it starts. But why you copy in this tutorial the second folder (Mkwii)? Must the console have this Files? Yep! As long as you place the .wbfs file in the correct location you can play any Wii ROMs. I'm able to play vanilla MKWii this way.

For anyone having this problem, open up the .iso file with an iso mounting software (I used PowerISO) and check if there are any files inside. My iso was corrupted so I had to get another one.

Worked for me, had to reformat my flash drive to fat32, followed directions in vid. Using wiiflow, had to set the game to load to iso 222 and it work. Just got into modding my old wii, added nintendont and wiiflow(gamecube and wii) along with nes,snes, suprised i havent broke this 2006 wii yet!
