Still does not change the shape of the magnetic field. Widen the baseplate to force the concentration lower on the poles. The shape is what gives the tele pickup that great tone.

longer wire solder straight to the back of the bridge pot, then no messing with pickup soldering and no trimming required
@PeterGrenader8 ай бұрын
That is what is called a cold solder joint. You need to heat up the two surfaces that will be soldered together with the tip of the ironbefore solder is applied so the solder flows evenly on both.

I'm having some issue with a handmade telecaster bridge pickup (it makes whatever I tap on my guitar super resonating...), and I guess I need to check this pickup/baseplate assembly. Thanks for your vid, super interesting and useful as usual!

The video is good and useful, but what about the effects? Both from the electronic point of view (increase of inductance) and from the sound point of views.

Can I add them to my pickups?? I have staggered pickups (like a silver sky se) and the magnet poles are not flat against the bottom base, is that possible??? Sorry for the bad English :(

Ive been researching this mod and this is a good video, thanks. How does the type of metal used for the base plate and thickness influence the result? For instance brass vs steel, vs SS, etc. ?

If having a baseplate on a strat pickup led to a "massive improvement" in the sound, every pickup manufacturer would do it. You do this ONLY to make it sound more like a Tele bridge pickup. Also, there is NO sound difference whatsoever through an amp between a maple fretboard and a rosewood fretboard. None. You make pickups, but you clearly do NOT understand how solid body electric guitars with properly wax-potted pickups work. Learn: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGGVpXyjmMpmd6c

Could I just use black electrical tape instead of masking tape? Seems like it would have better hold and less conductive.

Yes.
@christianboddum87835 жыл бұрын
It only works on a flat surface right? (all magnets touching the plate - nonstaggered bottom)
@RadioshopPickups5 жыл бұрын
Hi Christian, they don't have to be touching, but yes, staggered polepieces through the bottom would cause problems with it being stable. Cheers, Paul

What a load of shite! Anyone can make a steel plate at home and attach it to a single coil Strat pickup and the way overpriced Tele mod they sell is just a dual pot blend pot. !30 for just a $15 pot pre=wired is ludacris!
