This was the best PPF video for a Tesla DIY install I have seen yet! I know it’s not as easy as it seemed watching you, but your tips on aligning, and moving from one section at a time are great confidence builders. Very nice tutorial!

Rrreally good video! Like it 👍🏼 Do you know how the ppf edges look like after 2-3 years specially on a white car? I have seen ppf edges that catch dirt over time you cannot clean because dirt is moving a bit under the ppf…
@wrapid97062 жыл бұрын
Hey! If they are sealed down properly they will not lift and collect dirt, but in cases where there is dirt, it can be either cleaned or trimmed back

Very nice work! I’ve seen several of these Tesla front bumper installs. You make it look easy but I’m sure it’s not. I would guess the approach for a first timer should be slow and patience with lots of soapy water, correct? I would think a beginner would tend to panic if things aren’t looking right instead of simply peeling it back and spraying it and trying again is this also a correct observation? If you keep the PPF wet can you keep working it for as long as it takes or will it tend to start stretching, drying, etc?
@wrapid97062 жыл бұрын
For sure slow and patience is key. I wouldn’t use too much soap as then you’ll be fighting it sticking. That’s correct as long as it’s wet you can still work on it

Installing PPF is anything but easy. This is something that is best left up to the professionals that do this for a living. Trust me, I have watched some KZbin videos where people bought the pre-cut kits and did them theirselves. Most of the ones I watched looked horrible. Screw that.....

I have a full wrap for the entire car and the sensors are covered and work just fine. Why not cover the sensors?
@wrapid97062 жыл бұрын
Hey! Because of the shifting rubber around sensors, it tends to get dirt and water from behind the bumper over time. The sensors will work fine but dirt will eventually build up and look bad over time.
@15bit624 жыл бұрын
Probably a stupid question, but is it really easier to use a pre-cut than to put on a full sheet and cut out for the sensors etc as you go?
@wrapid97064 жыл бұрын
Hey! It is easier to use a precut if you do not have the experience or do not have the courage to cut the film on the vehicle. But of course if you use a sheet it can be more custom

What about the soap spray in the pump bottle? Type of soap (Johnson baby?) and ratio with water? Thanks
@wrapid97064 жыл бұрын
We use Johnson's baby shampoo and as for the soap ratio it depends on the conditions, if it's hotter I use more and if it's colder I use less. But I normally put 2/3 drops per pp bottle.

Hey! Another method we found that works is using hot water
@Wow_wow13 жыл бұрын
I consider myself pretty handy person and I do not recommend people from doing this unless they have good experience(especially if you’ve purchased a pre-cut kit). Just pay a professional to do it. It’s just not worth it. The video makes it fairly easy to accomplish this, but it’s not that easy. If I had to really do this again, I would buy bulk and cut it myself. Buying a pre-cut PPF limits what you can do and you have to stretch different parts of the bumper just to get the alignments correct. Getting the parking sensor all aligned was such PIA! If i had a bulk PPF, i wouldn’t have to stretch it as much and I would have a lot more free pay with it-ultimately making things much easier to apply.

Can you get creases or permanent creases in PPF? What if it creases after you shrink it and push it down
@wrapid97063 жыл бұрын
It is possible to get creases but if you heat it up, they usually go away (kind of like vinyl). Only issue is if it's too dry and you crease it, there is potential that the adhesive will seperate so make sure it's wet when you are squeegeeing

Don't they make one of those strap-on leather front covers, like they had in the 80s? So when you're on a long road trip you can put it on and remove it when you're back home? They called them Bug Bra's...
@wrapid97063 жыл бұрын
They still might but those collect dirt and small rocks under and with the leather not actually air tight to the car, it will get inbetween and end up scratching and damaging the car under the straps
