@mrthomas804 Yes, 512MB is all you need! You are fine. You can use the samples just fine with 512MB. We have 512MB at the church as we can load the samples.

@BigBran10 Yep, you need both RAM sticks as they go together and the memory stick. After installing the RAM, you format the memory stick from your Motif. Put your memory stick in your computer and copy the samples from your computer to your memory stick. Put the memory stick back into the Motif and load. All the instructions come with the samples too.

Let’s say you install the motif xx rack and wanna use those sounds for a gig .. when you unplug the board, everything you loaded for that gig deletes.. so essentially every time you plug up you have to reload your sounds... Sounds like a hassle but as long as you keep a flash drive in your gig bag you’re straight, loading takes about 10 minutes at the longest

Have you ever seen a reboot message on the motifs? My board says do not not touch keys while it reboots when I turn on the power button and even if I leave it on for a couple days the message doesn’t change. It’s like it is froze, I have unplugged turned off and on tried a different plug etc. I am at a loss right now. Any suggestions?

quadra privat they delete. Thing about the older motifs you can load samples and integrate samples but can’t save those samples to the board. It’s ram but it’s not memory, if that makes sense.. more like temporary usable space

i dont' understand one thing. i record sample on the keyboard. i want to play them and record a track that contain both sounds from voices and from samples. what i have to do? use cubase? but cubase record midi. and sends back midi to keyboard to play them. and samples? let's assume the cubase send back info about midi notes to voices and samples, the keyboard plays and the output of the keyboard where is recorded? on another computer?

Hello Jammal Thanks for sharing this tutorial. I have a Motif ES6 and when I enter the Integrated Sampling Mode, Reportedly have 64MB of memory but does not know if it's internal memory or is it installed RAM. I would like to know if this memory is internal, if I Load Samples It. I tried to Load Files PLAYERS W7V and W8V Sound Library CD, only the Piano PowerGrand work properly, the Other as the S700 Stay with Noise starting until the middle of the keyboard notes most High, This is Normal? means that I have to install RAM? or may be defective keyboard? By the way I appreciate any help Thanks

It sounds like either a defective RAM or defective samples. It could be that those samples are using Yamaha's codec and you need to update your ES to the newest firmware. If updating the firmware doesn't work, then I think those samples are defective.

AFAIK, you can't even install more RAM into the Motif XF, it is there only for onboard sampling (which the MOXF doesn't do). You're supposed to install flash memory, which is non-volatile ie the samples stay in memory after you turn off and on your workstation, and are instantly accessible after you boot up (it doesn't increase the boot up time either). Check the MOXF downloads section on the Yamaha site for lots of great free samples and the Motifator site for sample sets available for purchase, as well as tutorials (and forum help) on how to install sample sets.
