Constructive criticisms of the video: 1) Focus on the KDA5 kit. It gets confusing when the KDA7 kit exceptions are included. 2) Include in the video that the adaptor flange is held in place by the orange rubber (?) gasket on the adaptor ring to form a water-tight seal with the existing drain. This might be a minor point, but it addresses my next comment. 3)NO bonding adhesive is used to glue the drain flange to the existing plumbing. 4) Why is Kerdi-Fix used on the adaptor ring? Is it an adhesive, a sealant or both? Thanks for a very good series of videos. The ARE very helpful.

Hi there, thanks for your feedback, we will be sure to pass it along to our video team. As for your Kerdi-Fix question, the Kerdi-Fix is a single-component sealing and bonding compound that is applied to the underside of the adaptor ring mainly to seal it, however, it will also work together with the bolts to ensure it is well bonded. Hope this helps!

Great video Schluter team. Im wondering if the Kerdi collar is needed if you’re doing a mortar bed versus the prefabricated pan shown here? Seems like you’d just cover the mortar bed and drain with kerdi membrane?
@schlutersystems13 жыл бұрын
Hi David, Thanks for the feedback! And yes, you can just cover the mortar bed and drain flange with KERDI membrane. The KERDI collar is not needed over a mortar bed. Happy tiling!

Do you not use any adhesive to the end of the drain to connect to the drain under the floor? I am worried that this could cause leaks.
@schlutersystems14 жыл бұрын
The "drain under the floor" is never disconnected. The Adaptor flange is placed inside of the existing drain body that is already attached to the drainage pipe, so no need to be concerned about leaks!

I find that I'm confused as to the different heights needed for different components. How to you know if you need an adapter kit or the regular kit
@schlutersystems13 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary, the adaptor kit is only needed if you have an existing clamping drain in the floor that you won't be removing. Otherwise, if there is not a drain in the floor currently, you would just use the regular KERDI-DRAIN. Please give our Customer Support team a call directly if you'd like to discuss your project in more detail. 800-472-4588 (US) or 800-667-8746 (Canada). Thanks!

When using the KDA-5 how do you tile in the drain grate if you only use the height adjustment collar from the adapter kit
@schlutersystems19 ай бұрын
Hi Ben! You may want to give our Product Support team a call directly to discuss this question in a bit more detail. From what I can gather from your question, it depends a bit on the installed drain elevation, it may be necessary to install KERDI-BOARD, tile backerboard, water-resistant gypsum backerboard, or similar prior to the tray to ensure the desired height is achieved. Install the tray as per the instructions on page 24 of our Handbook. No PVC cement needed when installing these components? Thanks,
@schlutersystems12 жыл бұрын
Hi Bee, thanks for your question. PVC cement is not needed to install any of the components of the KERDI-DRAIN-A adaptor kit as this product is used with a previously installed clamping ring drain. Instead, KERDI-FIX (or similar adhesive) is used to install the bonding flange, and an acceptable thin-set mortar (i.e. Schluter SET, ALL-SET, FAST-SET, or unmodified thin-set mortar) can be used to install the remaining components, where necessary. Hope this helps!

Can any screws be used in the bonding flang
@schlutersystems12 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. The small, round holes in the outer edges of the KERDI-DRAIN flange are a result of the manufacturing process and are not meant to be used to screw the flange into place. Hope that helps!

Hi Ceeloc, the Kerdi Drain flange with adapter can be purchased without a grate included, and the grates can then be purchased separately. Any grate except the tileable or the 6" are compatible. Hope this helps!

Hi there! The KERDI-DRAIN can usually be connected by using a Fernco or different appropriate coupler. The Kerdi Adaptor kit usually fits. However, we recommend checking with a plumbing expert for the exact recommendation of how to make the connection in your particular application

How can we use this adapter kit with the Infinity Drains S-LTIF 65 Series
@schlutersystems13 жыл бұрын

@schlutersystems13 жыл бұрын
Hi Nicholas, I spoke to our technical team for you.... You can use the normal instructions for the KERDI-DRAIN-A installation, as the flange is only 11 13/16" wide, so 6" from the wall is enough room. Just slope your mortar bed toward the drain and cover everything in KERDI in accordance with the Schluter Shower Installation Handbook guidelines. Does this help?

Good product among others out there. The big problem with it is that it is obscenely expensive. This is in part due to their “pyramid structure distribution system”. The manufacture sells the products to distributors, who sell them to dealers, who sell them to trades, who then take another mark-up and do your job. The end result is priced through the roof. How many layers of markup can you put between the manufacture and the end user ?

What type of polystyrene foam board is used? Or what is the required psi rating if you have to use this method to put down the shower tray.
@schlutersystems1 Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Additional foam material used under the Schluter Shower Tray would need to be equal to or higher density than our tray, which is 80 psi. All layers must be fully embedded in thin-set mortar.
