On a 4L80e, removing the original rear cooler line fitting with the tubing that sticks into the transmission will burn up the rear planetary gears and everything behind the rear cooler fitting. That piece of tubing that sticks into the transmission actually fits into the center support to direct fluid into the rear lube circuit of the transmission. With the fitting you used in the video, the fluid will just flow back into the pan without lubricating the rear of the transmission. For a very good explanation of what I’ve described here, watch Precision Transmission’s KZbin channel. Richard is a master transmission mechanic with over 40 years of experience. He is in Amarillo Texas and builds transmissions for people all over the country. I know the 4L80e is a tough transmission but it’s also expensive to build and repair. I hope this will help you avoid having any problems with your work in the future.

Be sure to get the NPS style thread fittings for the trans fittings. Don't get the wrong ones in the trans and strip them or cross thread. 💪🏾

I’m literally doing my trans lines on my LS swap I’m doin on my 96 Caprice right now..... now I just need to figure out how to hook up the shifter linkage.... the new style 4l60e sits back farther than it did with the LT1 and old 4l60e... I’m usin those dirty dingo motor mounts, and I did what you told us and used the LS1 oil pan.... I appreciate you bro thanks again

There’s a dude on there right now that’s getting his swap done by you.... and I’m using the sliding adjustable dirty dingo mounts. The transmission crossmember is stopping me from sliding the engine any farther forward, I have the trans mount on the forward slot on the crossmember and it’s as far as it will go... so I cut that crossmember or something???? You should make a video dedicated to transmissions that would be awesome!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Lol

@D. I. Y. With the Richardsons >Over the decade of fixing vehicles, most all automatics run 8-14 PSI in the cooling circuit. The hot fluid is pumped directly from the torque converter thru a balance valve. The bulk of the return is directed into the lubrication circuit to lube planetary gears to the output shaft bushing and everything in between. Hope this helps.
