Just install it in your house. The magnetic door lock might not be the best but the mechanical door lock would work fine.

Great video thank you Ubiquiti. Something to in mind about mag locks for residential applications is that they only lock when electrical power is available. For homes, consider electric strikes and deadbolts, they stay locked with or without electrical power.

Depends on the mag lock style, the in-frame mag lock fails to secure. Either way, you'll want to add a mission-critical module to ensure you have power to the system when power is out.

Anyone know if the electric strikes are suitable for exterior installation? Love the idea but wondering if they will hold up to the elements...

Strikes Can work fine on exterior doors, but I don’t recommend them. You tend to want to keep said door unlocked when at home. This will draw power, and as such is not very efficient. Personally i would rather use a motor lock in the door. This would require drilling through the door, which can seem a bit scary, but is a much neater, and more efficient solution

Will other Magnetic Locks work with the Door Access Hub? Or are only unifi magnetic locks compatible?

Should work with other mag locks, it has a dry option to signal door opening and a powered option 12v / 1 amp. So if it requires different power than the powered it likely has an exterior power source you can use it with the dry ports.

the underlying material (door, screws, etc) will give in before the magnet. These are very powerful magnets

At least show people how to install this up to code by not creating a man trap. How are you suppose to release the mag-lock without an exit button or REX motion? and no using the lite reader does not count as an egress device.
