I watched this vid then another that said DON"T press on the inner race of the bearing. A good friend with a press did just that after saying he's never had a problem. Well, sure enough, because I asked him to install my new bearings I had a problem as it destroyed the bearings on both sides. I bought a DIY bearing install kit off fleabay and installed both bearings using the outermost area to press on. Both bearings are now being replaced although only one was bad after four years of road trips and the never-ending spirited driving. My friend still swears he's never had any other problems with his bearing installs, buuuuuuuuuuut I'd rather not take the chance or expense of doing this more than necessary.

My Suggestion... Save your wasted ball joint money and buy new hubs.

Omg , pressing bearing in on inner. Wonder how many miles the bearing lasted before failing.

Was there a retaining ring for the bearing?

I've almost replaced everything on my mk4 GTI but totally ignored this and im running on c5s with 1.5" 1" adapters.
@PincheALsGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yeah man using adapters will cause premature bearing failure. I am replacing mine tomorrow because of that.

Sometimes it's the better option when you don't have the time or the tools

Did you not heat the knuckle? And freeze the bearing?
@PincheALsGarage2 жыл бұрын
No need for that. Just use a press. Yes I do know it makes the process a bit easier.
@DIRTVENTURE2 жыл бұрын
@@PincheALsGarage i use heat if can. I don’t have a press

Can I use the 2.0 engine head on the 1.6 block???
@Nate61334 жыл бұрын
If it’s an 06A block you can. But you will probably need to replace exhaust manifold and other components that may not match. The 06A block is used in 2.0 and 1.8t engines. You can the difference by seeing what kind of water pump you have, and 058 block has an external pump driven my the drive belt, the 06A is timing belt driven pump.
@ezrothrobinson25734 жыл бұрын
@@Nate6133 I'll check to see if the 1.6 engine block has the same 06A
