This is the only video that actually helped me boot up Windows 10 using a USB. My ASUS laptop has been running Windows 7 for a couple of years now and it wasn’t until recently that I thought about looking up ways to downloading it by booting up the W10 file instead of simply installing it (because direct installation never worked or just stopped at 99%). I came to this video from the previous video on the channel about resolving boot loop issues on an Asus. This video from the onset should have made clear that reinstalling and booting up Windows 10 would wipe out the harddrive and any files on it. Attempts at making a recovery of the harddrive and files should be made before proceeding to this step.

Aren't there needed drivers for the like likes of the trackpad/keyboard etc on these laptops? If clean installing, won't they all get wiped? and if so, how does one use these tools if the drivers are missing? I've a new ASUS Zenbook on the way, really want to clean install without all the extra ASUS add ons, however, I don't want to shoot myself in the foot and be left with a device that won't function because drivers have been wiped. I know ASUS has latest drivers and BIOS etc, but will the laptop work suffice to even get in and download them fresh? Or will I need an external keyboard/mouse etc?

When I get to windows setup and select the drive to install windows on. My drive 0 unallocated space has a total space of 0.0MB, and a error saying windows cannot be installed on this drive appears on the bottom. Does this indicate the Hard drive is broken. note: I have taken it out and reseated it and the same error comes up. Thank you for all the help

I have a problem. When i select the UEFI flash drive option, it boots to the windows logo with a blincking small line in the top left area of my display and then there is only black screen. I have seen that you need to wait a bit longer and i did it (5:43hrs) and guess what... Nothing. Note that this is happening even before entering the instalation setup. I just want to get to there, when (if) this happens, i will be likely done with my work of fixing my ASUS X540UB laptop/notebook. Any help?

It was working good, running some games as Minecraft, Cities Skylines and War Thunder. But one day, i just logged into windows and something wasnt right. It was slow, laggy etc. Then a blue screen appeared with error code : Un expected store exception and the 0% didnt moved. I tried restarting it, but then the worse part began. And infinity loop and stuck in the asus startup logo. Sometimes when i wait it says "preparing automatic repair". But from then nothing happens. I am in BIOS mode with fast boot of, CSM support and secure boot i think off.

I dont find any recover options in BIOS. Probably helpful information is that i cant enter diagnostics mode. When i try to force restart (5-10secs) it just shuts off in the moment i press the power button. Also i have usb flash drive install media and guess what - i go to the boot menu, select UEFI usb option and it shows the windows icon, but then nothing. I somehow found 2 ssd/hard-drive in the laptops box and switched them. Then i entered diagbostics mode and tried reseting my pc. Didnt worked. Tried reinstalling updates but that also didnt worked. So i desided i will install windows freshly but after 10 minutes of happiness(i somehow managed to install windows from usb) it freezed and showed again blue screen. And guess what- this time I didn't restarted it, but it restarted itself (without finishing collecting data). And then i got stuck at asus logo again. Also I tried everything in the linked video and it didnt worked. Thanks for responding, i appreciate it.

Hey I’ve been trying to fix my laptop all day but can’t seem to fix it. The problem is when I turn on my asus laptop it goes to “preparing automatic repair” but then does nothing after. I’ve tried changing from UEFI and LEGACY but that didn’t work. I also tried reinstalling windows on it with a flash but after the flash drive loads for a bit it does nothing after and goes to a grey screen like before. Any way you can help?

That could mean that the HDD is bad. Try reseating it first. If that does not help, replace the drive and install an OS onto the new one.

PC Monkey....much love, brother Punched my laptop 3 years ago in an argument with my worst half and messed the hard drive on a £500 piece of equipment. Purchased a reconditioned hard drive for £15 and could not get it working for 5hrs but after you simply explained that I must delete the partitions, I managed to get past the driver select issue (simple as that) and now I have a laptop again and the total repair cost was £18.50 (including the 16gb USB flash drive for installation media). For me it says Drive 0 Partition 1 and it doesn’t allow me to use it to install windows. Looking further it says that my disk is MBR partition table and that it can only be installed on GPT disks.. ?? This PC is 7 years old and I have always had Windows 10. Just lately it’s been getting worse (low quality imagine zoomed-in) and won’t start at times. Won’t let me reinstall the pc but the problem now is that I did this command in hope to fix that but it just broke my pc even more.. diskpart list disk select disk 0(ssd) clean create partition primary select partition1 active format fs=ntfs quick assign exit

Ok, so I have finally made it this far... My only options when selecting a boot device is Windows Boot Manager and UEFI: Sandisk,,,, is uefi sandisk the same? Your installing Windows 10? You usually do not have to manually search for and install drivers with Win10. What error are you getting and when exactly?

Installing Win10 is usually a much more automatic process that usually does not require you to search for and install drivers manually as did previous versions of Windows. When you loaded the Install Media onto the USB, you also loaded separate drivers? Where did you get the drivers and what were they for?

@@PC_Monkey I got the drivers from the Acer website - specific for my model - and they’re for various things such as audio, graphics, touchpad, display, etc

@@PC_Monkey when there were no drivers installed, I got the error ‘no drivers found on media’, when the drivers were on the flash stick, none came up automatically, and when I manually searched for them and started the installation process, it’d load to about 95%, go back to zero, and repeat a few times before saying, ‘no new drivers found’. There was no way I could skip the menu.

Also I just want to mention this is a brand new SSD in my laptop, so any drivers on the previous one would be lost.

It could be bad or it could be loose. I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. That is where you unplug it and then plug it back in, making sure its properly plugged in and secure. Try the install again. If it still says that its not installed, then its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. You can see how to do that here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/eamspqxons6KbtE.

You would need to make sure all the updates are processed and then you would need to get them manually.

I have the ASUS T100TAM on Windows 8. It's just been sitting here for 4 years because it's stuck in BIOS. I've watched your videos, but my Boot tab only gives me "Boot Option #1" I've also tried the esc key on powering up and my options are "Windows Boot Manager" or "Enter Setup" Both bring me back to the BIOS. Also, on the advanced tab, I only have Start easy flash, Network stack, USB config & Platform trust tech.

salve. sto notando che in alcuni modelli nuovi di notebook con cpu serie 11xx in fase di prima installazione, come se fosse che windows 10 non carica qualche driver di qualche controller che gestisce l'ssd e quindi ne si riesce a creare una nuova partizione e a installare windows, e ne si risce a reinstallare il sistema nel caso si voglia fare una installazione da zero di windows, ora mi sta succedendo con un asus vivobook 15 k513 serie, oltre a disabilitare il secureboot, cos'altro va fatto?

Helpful video 👍. Will this method also help to get rid of the BSOD 'inaccessible boot device error' that appears in a loop while trying to reset Windows 10, clean installation? My laptop is brand new, and just because of a Windows automatic update, I got that error. I tried the Windows reset options, but couldn't get Windows to load. Since it's under warranty, I'm hoping the Asus tech support will help fix this soon, may require the same fix as you've shown here...Most users love Windows OS, but I just wish there was a way to turn off automatic Windows updates, which is causing nightmares to so many users worldwide 🙏🇮🇳

Thanks for the excellent explanation. How can I get my ASUS x202e laptop to accept Windows 10? I tried once and lost several aspects of networking capabilities, so I had to revert back to 8.1. Are the x202e drivers incompatible with Win10?

Some drivers may be. Im not sure of that particular model. No manuals exist on that subject :( Its a trial and error thing. What happened when you install Win10? You couldnt see any network connections?

Hey I have an issue on pc where it says preparing automatic repair. I have an aorus motherboard and can’t access system recovery, only the gigabyte bios. I’ve tried multiple fixes but nothing works, and I can’t seem to reinstall windows 10. Any solution ideas?

Great help so far but now i am stuck where it asks where i want to install windows. There is only one option so i did not need to delete any and it says Drive 0 unallocated space. The total size and free space columns both say 0.0MB. Did I not get a good download to my USB drive? (brand new flash drive) Or is that a sign my hard drive is bad?

@@PC_Monkey I managed to fix it. The problem was I was trying to get the Fedora Linux distro that was on it to generate the files I needed. It was apparently missing a few. So I used a different older computer that had Windows to generate what I needed. Worked like a charm. Thanks for getting back to me as quick as you did though! The video helped me put 2 and 2 together.

After choosing a boot device, I briefly get the windows logo before my computer blue screens again with either the error "System thread exception not handled" or "Page fault in non paged area". Is this an issue with my flash drive? The copy of windows? A bigger problem then what reinstalling windows will solve?

You sometimes have to try the different USB ports. Some computers will only use one of them for this operation.

I'm a little confused. I have a ASUS x73E, I5 laptop with Windows 7 on it. Will this method install Windows 10 on it with only the key code for Windows 7 or do I need to purchase the install disc for Win 10 outright? The laptop never has had Win 10 on it. And do you think this computer will upgrade to Win 10? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use a Win7 key for a Win10 install :) In my experience, about half of the Win7 computers I have worked on do not run Win10 very well. They are glitchy and prone to driver issues. I personally dont install Win10 onto Win7 machines anymore but if this is your personal computer, feel free to give it a try and see how it goes :)

Not sure what the issue is, I start up the computer hit escape and go to the SanDisk and it then like a black screen with a blinking underscore appears them it goes to the windows logo and and starts loading then goes to an empty screen where the backlight is lit up

I dont even try to install Win10 onto Win7 machines anymore. To many driver incompatibilities and glitches. Many Win7 machines are not able to run Win10 very well. I would try to run all the updates as seen here and see if that finds the correct ones; kzbin.info/www/bejne/enXZY5qAec-Zha8

Hi - my computer is stuck in the loop - spins and goes to blue screen saying its going to restart for me - I have tried your steps - even for reloading - but when I set it to boot from the flash - not sure it is - I did get to the login page 1x during the process and then back to spinning - any advice?

If you cant install windows new and the BIOS fixes didnt help, you may need to replace your hard drive and install windows to the new one

Windows 10 searches for and downloads appropriate drivers automatically. Only in rare cases do you have to manually search for and download them yourself.

If your computer has touchpad and a fingerprint hardware then yes, the drivers should be installed

@@tarunprasad7958 If you cannot find how to switch the setting in BIOS or if switching did not help, then reinstall the Operating System as shown here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4enapmGf5aYn80. You can create your own install media for free as seen here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZC4mZx-iMiUias. If Windows won't install correctly, then we know that the Hard Drive is bad. Replace it as seen here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIKnlHuKnNKJZrs. Then, install Windows onto the new one.

However, I have a product key for windows 7 home Prem which was preinstalled on the laptop. You would go to the microsoft website referenced in this video; kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZC4mZx-iMiUias and choose the 'upgrade' option. The prompts are pretty easy to follow from there :) Make sure to back up your data first though :)

thanks for the help. I'm using a sandisk with bootable windows 10 software. When the software has installed and updated, I get an error message saying it can't access the windows boot configuration and it kills the installation. Any ideas?

@@PC_Monkey Hiya- thanks for the prompt reply. The computer gets past the ASUS logo and then nothing (this started happening recently). I followed one of your clips to create the install media on a pen drive via the official MS site. The Windows 10 license is current on the laptop.

I want to reinstall the Windows as my there is a disk error and I've tried the BIOS option. What I want to ask is if there is a way of keeping the personal data of my hard drive while doing reinstallation?

If your drive is damaged then your files may be lost. In that case, you would have to replace the drive and install Windows onto the new one. You can try bringing the bad drive to a repair shop. Sometimes we can get data off bad drives. If the drive is good, you can install Windows but not delete the partition with the data on it. Or you can take the drive, and hook it up to another computer via an external hard drive link.
