Thank you so much for this very clear and straightforward video explanation. I have watched several others and been intimidated by their complexity - perhaps to be fair because they were also addressing non-compliant TPM issues - but certainly, if like me you just have a Surface Go (1) with a Pentium Gold 4415Y instead of the Go 2's Pentium Gold 4425Y and that is all that is stopping MS extending to you the automatic upgrade to Windows 11, the method as shown by you works like a dream! The whole process does take several hours (in my case about three and a half hours?) but, fingers crossed, now that I have Windows 11 downloaded and already receiving updates!, it is very worthwhile attempting. Thank you again so very much!

I have just tried this on my Surface Book 1 and it no longer works, at least not for me. After modifying the registry and downloading and running the installation on USB, the warning appears, but the only option is Close. I also tried downloading and booting from an ISO file but that isn't allowed either. Have Microsoft changed something? Is there any way to save the SB1?

Hi, I hope you respond, my Surface Book 2 is currently in Windows 10 Pro TPM 2.0. My concern is the registry doesn't have the MoSetup folder even if I updated it and restarted my computer a few times. What should be the fix here?

Initially my Book 2 wasn't eligible for the upgrade, but now Windows Update is saying that I can update to 11. Maybe the same will happen for the Book 1 if it hasn't already.

Hi sir. I successfully installed windows 11 on my surface book then an idea came to my head. What if i delete the registry I added before the installation? Would it affect the laptop in anyway? My idea is if the pc won't have that registry, would it think that I was able to install the software because my laptop was supported? That way I can get updates as normal. If that makes sense.

The surface book 2 is actually compatible with Windows 11 officially! So no need to change these things

@@low-res-nic Not really. The majority of Surface Book 2's are not compatible as they run 7th gen intel chips. There are however two models that run the 8th gen intel chips. So you have to check your Surface Book 2 to see if they are the right models. (8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U or i7-8650U). This is straight from Microsoft's own website.

Yes but you don't even need that method. You can create modified usb with rufus and then upgrade from usb directly

A Gen 1 Surface is much older than a gen 1 Surface Book. 2012 vs 2015/2016 and the hardware is much different. I probably wouldn't try putting W11 on a gen 1 Surface especially if it's a RT and not a Pro. I have put W11 on a Surface Pro 3 and it works fine. Just understand the risk if you proceed.

Yeah no matter what I have done I cannot see MoSetup in registry, and it changes nothing when I added it manually either. God I hate Windows, I wish I did not need it for work.
