Awesome video man! I'm a very difficult learner but you explained things just the way they needed to be for me to best understand. I'm not quite sure what way that is but some people make no sense and some do and you my friend made perfect sense. Your English is also very clear. Thanks for the video!

Can you be able to recall scenes from n live? As midi or markers?

Have a stock Yamaha CL1 with no added expansion cards. How do I connect the CL1 to my iMac to record into Protools? What are all the parts-&-pieces (hardware and software) will I need. How is it all physically connected from the CL1 to iMac? Note: I already have Protools 2019 installed on the iMac.

If you don't use the secondary port on your CL1, you can set it to 'Daisy Chain' in the Setup / Dante Setup page on the desk. Now you can connect that port to the ethernet port of your computer. On your computer you need to run 'Dante Virtual Soundcard' before opening Pro Tools. The virtual sound card is your IO device in your Pro Tools. So in this setup here you only need a CAT5E cable and a DVS license. If you are using the secondary port, you need a network switch. Connect all Dante Primaries to that switch (desk, rack, computer ...). Here again: run DVS, start Pro Tools and choose DVS as your IO device.

Quick question can we use a different DAW for multi-tracking recording and VSC or is it highly recommended to use Nuendo Live with the CL5
@MONOSoundLab11 ай бұрын
Hey. Ofcourse you can use different DAW software. The difference is that the Yamaha and Nuendo integration is a lot better, then other DAW. You might automate some stuff via Midi, or OSC with other DAW. I think recommandation depends for the most part on which DAW you use the most, and are therefore fastest on. Or what use there is for the DAW.

Hey Mono thank you for your video very usefull. Just one question : you need 2 input racks (RIO) to record in live ? One for your FOH and one for your recording ? Because your gain volume is different for both of them ? Thank you
@MONOSoundLab4 жыл бұрын
Hey. It depends on what your purpose is of course. If you're using the recordings for virtual soundcheck, you don't need another rack because you want the same input gain on your recordings as in your live situation. That way you have a correct reference when you do your virtual soundcheck. On the other hand if you want to use the recordings for let's say a live album, it would indeed be wise to have separate pre-amps for that. If your budget allows it of course. But if you have a good gain structure you should be able to use the recordings either way. Hope this helps.

Great video. Is there a way to send mix busses into Nuendo Live through this setup?
@dallasphill2 жыл бұрын
Yes... Just patch the mix buss output to the desired dante out!

Hey hi Mono! Is there a way to do multitrack recoding in Cubase connected to QL5 console. Also how can I connect cubase or protools to QL5 for multitrack recording. Thanks
@MONOSoundLab11 ай бұрын
Hey. Since yamaha uses Dante as main audio protocol, the easiest way to multitrack record, is through DVS (Dante Virtual Soundcard, www.audinate.com/products/software/dante-virtual-soundcard). And you can use any DAW that supports DVS. For Dante patching you need Dante Controller (www.audinate.com/products/software/dante-controller).

goe bezig mannekes! You never have any problems with USB-C macbooks going into UTP protocols like Dante ? That's a hassle sometimes.

Can you tell me what wire is needed to connect the CL to the computer for recording

cat 5/6 network cable
@MONOSoundLab11 ай бұрын
Hey. In most of the circumstances you'll need a cat5 utp cable (or higher) if you have a computer with ethernet port. In case you don't have a ethernet port, you need a 100Mbit or 1Gbit ethernet to USB A or C adapter (depending on the network and the data quantity).

you forgot to mention one very important step, you need to install 'Yamaha Console Extension' for win or MAC, to be able to control Nuendo remotely

I gave you a thumbs down. I repeated everything as you told 10 times, but I did not succeed. Until I found out on another video that it was necessary to install the extension console utility.
