Thank you so much for the detailed instructions on how to join strips together. It's always been a struggle doing this correctly but with your instructions, it was perfect the first time. I am sorry to see that you have not had a video on KZbin for several years.

Thank you, very easy instructions, it would have been helpful to indicate which side your fabric sits for each strip, especially since yours was one color, it was hard to see which side was front or back.

Agreed. Knowing right sides of fabric would be helpful.

Ms Aimee, Thank you for your time and knowledge. Haven’t made border or binding strips in a while. Sew much easier with your explicit directions, then relying on my senior citizen memory😉! 🍀

Back stitching is important in projects such as clothing making to hold the seam closed while a sleeve or zipper or waistband etc needs to be set in or added. In projects such as this video, the seam binding will be stitched on to (and hence stitched OVER the little binding seam) a finished projects such as mug rug or baby bib or quilt etc. Where there is not a lot of handling or for very small projects, back stitching is not necessary. You are not wrong. It's a 'sometimes' thing.

That little piece of cloth she placed under the pressure foot insures that there is no thread tangle nor that little point of the seam will not be drawn down between the feed dogs.

Do you start with the back sides of the fabric together? Or the good sides together?

It would help a great deal if you indicated right side up or down for the strips. Your fabric is the same on both sides. but most fabric is different on each side.

Hi Mary, Strips should be right sides together, so the bottom strip is facing up and the top strip is facing down. happy quilting! Aimee

Good thought. I thought the same thing - especially for beginning sewers. Very well explained otherwise though.

I think it's not necessary here because these strips are folded over and then sewed over when attached to the quilt.

Borders can be any width. Use this method for joining strips for both binding and borders.
