Just a tip for anyone watching. Wrap the exhaust in plastic or foil before removing the filter. Oil will 100% of the time fall onto the exhaust when you remove the filter and when you go to turn the bike on, once the exhaust heats up there is a massive fire risk. You may not wipe all of it off successfully before starting the bike.

Full time mechanic here, the reason for lubricating the oil filter seal is not to stop it sticking on removal, it's to stop it gripping and tearing up the seal and also to create a perfect seal, ALWAYS lube the seal

Wrap the exaust with tin foil so you don't get oil on the muffler

Yeah exactly. This guy put 5w40. But 10w40 is what the manual recommends.

Ccan you tell me what the fuel line that goes from the tank to the air box what it’s called ? My wife wreaked her ex 300 and the tank was ripped off but the only thing left was the tank the fuel line and some sort of broken nozzle (what did the nozzle go to?

I believe it should be 10W40 not 5W40

Not sure at the moment, most people get at the minimum about 50, rated for 70. So somewhere between 50 and 70.

for this bike its recommended to use 10w-40. So how was 5W-40 performed.

Seems fine but I'm just a tiny sample size. Several folks recommend the rotella t6 online. You can see what they have to say also if your want a second (or third, fourth, 5th) opinion. So far no issues for me though, if that will change in 50k miles who knows

I like to put some plastic or foil over the exhaust pipe to stop the oil hitting the exhaust, but that's just me lol

good video, very informative. just for next time, make sure you have the bike standing upright, not on the stand so you can get all the oil out of the pan.

OMG, no offense, but watching this video made me cringe. Never use crescent wrenches on motorcycle fasteners. Get yourself an oil filter wrench designed for the size of the filter, they're actually cheaper than a decent pair of channel locks. Please for the love of God get a set of METRIC Allen wrenches or Allen socket bits. Have a safe ride!!
