Thanks mate. Good advice there. As for the comment re piece of junk, well it doesn't matter what we all ride, it's still the same wind. He's probably a start and ride bloke and has the shop do all the work. I've seen what goes on in those shops. I'm with you, do as much as can. Cheers.

It's also a good idea to check cylinder base nuts.

That's a good one to add to the list for sure!

Old bikes are more work to keep on the road . I owned an old guzzi 850 it was a constant stream of odd jobs needing doing, but it was worthwhile.

Tell us is this a standard 83 sportster? Or does it have evo wheels, it looks like a fat bob rear, tell us what it is and what isnt standard? We want to know, so that we can make our own. Thanks.

here to ask about your iron head knowledge! from other older videos. i got a 79 roadster and i am hearing a rattling every time i down shift or idle on the clutch in first like at a red light. i think it might be the compensator, but it doesn't sound right for the videos i have seen/ listened to so far. any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
@buttcrackcycles3 ай бұрын
Double check the clutch adjustment and make sure your primary chain tension is ok, ie the chain isn't rattling around or slapping inside of the cover. Hard to say really, goofy noises are hard to figure out via text! Good luck
@crminalminds123 ай бұрын
@@buttcrackcycles just checked/adjusted the chain and replaced the tensioner shoe as it was starting to look a little dug out. but the rattle abides,as you know well with bikes this old once i figure out this problem it will just be so i can focus more on the next one. i'll be checking the valves next. checking everything before the compensator as i finally got the primary to stop leaking only last week and don't want to break whatever magic is holding that sealed. Thanks for your time!

You could make a video or videos of your normal job as a mechanic im sure some of your subscribers would find that interesting. You could take a poll to see if this is something your viewers are interested in

I've thought about it, but it slows the repair process down significantly when the camera comes out, and I need to remain efficient with regards to billable labor hours

Those are LED lights and that is why they hyper flash.
@buttcrackcycles4 ай бұрын
Yup but the important thing is they're actually flashing at all now lol

Gotta keep them irons on the road man. My turn signals are alway crapping out -so I took them off, now they are never a problem! Also, OCD alert - missing screw on the left side cover - the little triangular shaped one.👍

Yup, I saw that, I found a screw this morning for it
