Great video with an important message! I don't like how plants (or animals) are sometimes treated as disposable objects. It can be so rewarding to see a plant grow for years and years, people are really missing out when they throw living things away so easily... I got a cutting of a begonia maculata a few years back. I struggled with it for a long time and I almost gave up on it. But the past year it finally started to grow and look healthy. Such an amazing feeling!

Great video. I just got a beautiful magenta phalaenopsis and want to do my best to keep it alive. You’ve given me the courage to do that, and I learned orchids are not that fragile.

I get plants often free from big Supermarkets chains when they look as if they are dead and finished. I have a 90% success rate in keeping them alive. Sometimes I will pay 50p for a £12 plant which they think is on its last legs. It gives me a buzz to keep a plant alive. (Yes I am a RHS member.)

Thank you, I have killed a few of these, and then certainly thought they were like that. I have one now with beautiful green leaves and two stems of white flowers. The advice you have given about the roots will help me read the needs of the plant, and hopefully mine can get to a great age too.

I might suggest that you keep a a couple 3-4” stems to use to stabilize the plant when you repot. They are perfect for keeping them steady.

orchid makes me happy because when i pour water rice washing to them i like gave nutrision and hormon for growing flower make small spike naturally

Cutting right back to before the first node…this advice is different to what I’ve seen on other sites online. Other sites have suggested cutting right back to just above the first node. I’m confused now?!! Please help!!

Hello! You can cut it back to just above the first node to encourage another smaller flower spike, or cut it back below down to the node just above the plant's base to allow the plant to have a rest, produce more roots and leaves, and wait a bit for the next flowering.
