Cabbage, when you get a head of cabbage you can peel the outer leaves and core the head. Then put in a bag and freeze. When you're ready to use you will find your cabbage is ready to heat and serve. It seems freezing, somehow, precooks your cabbage. If you want to make stuffed cabbage you can easily peel the outer leaves off without tearing them and wrap them easily around whatever your stuffing. No tearing, no problems, so easy.

Wow what a great tip Peggy! I had no idea you could freeze cabbage. I recently made cabbage rolls and had to fight the cabbage to remove the leaves. Thank you so much for your tip and feedback. Hello Mike, thank you so very much for sharing this tip. I walked past a fantastic price on three pounds of strawberries because I was afraid of loosing too many. Hi Virginia welcome back. It's a good idea if you get a sale on strawberries to remove the stem, wash / dry them and put them in the freezer. You'll want to spread them out on a sheet pan and let him freeze first, then put them in Ziploc bags. This way you can grab a few toss them in the blender with some vodka and make a delicious smoothie! As always, thanks for the feedback, Mike 🧓

Put them in a wide mouth mason jar, unwashed. Vacuum seal with a jar sealer. They will last for a month. I do lots of my fruits & vegies this way. Green onions, carrots, celery, raspberries. Try it. It's worth the small investment in a jar sealer and small rechargeable vacuum sealer 😊

I look for the freshest strawberries I can find, de-stem them and wash them thoughly. I heard using cheap vinegar, cheap lemon juice, or salt rinse helps. Then I freeze them separately on cookie sheets. Then I use just enough for my smoothies when I need them.

Hi-ho, y'all!✨🤗✨ The lack of 'air' is what you want to make happen, for sure. But I take it just a bit farther, folks. And MY strawberries can be stored up to ABOUT two weeks in the fridge. There is a HAND vacuum pump... same purpose as a 'Seal-A-Meal' type, but you do the pumping by HAND... called the "Pump-N-Seal". I got mine on Amazon. You use ANY type of glass jar with the air-tight type of lid, the type that makes a POP when you break the seal, or VACUUM. The way you use the pump is so simple. The PUMP comes with MANY tiny 'tabs' that you place over a hole you pierce (comes with a STURDY pin for making the hole!) in the center of the jar's lid. You can buy more, or just use maybe something like silicone plumber's tape. The 'tab' is nothing more than a piece of rubber or latex... not quite sure... that has adhesive on either end. It's just like a teeny-tiny band-aid! When you place the pump's cup over the 'tab' and you start pumping the air out of the jar. The 'tab' allows the air to be sucked out, but then the 'tab' reseals the hole due to the vacuum inside! This thing works GREAT!!! It is a FANTASTIC back-up when the power goes out and you are in the middle of sealing foods. There are provisions for even using freezer-type zip lock bags with this HAND pump. Just do the search and you will find videos extolling the virtues of this little marvel.

@KitchenTipsOnline
@KitchenTipsOnline 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure what's going on with condensation inside the jar. Did you wash the jar and perhaps it was warm or something? Right now I have two jars of strawberries in my refrigerator and I just checked, there is no moisture or condensation on the inside. So I'm not sure what's going on, Mike 🧓

@@KitchenTipsOnline There were washed after the last time I used them, which was some time ago. There were stored in a cupboard so they would have been room temperature when I put the berries in. These were purchased from the local dollar store so I'm wondering if, perhaps, the lid doesn't fit tight enough. Does that make sense?
@KitchenTipsOnline
@KitchenTipsOnline 4 жыл бұрын
I don't know perhaps? I do know that you should not wash the strawberries before you put them in the jar. And you should put them in a jar as soon as you get home from the store. If you do, they will stay fresh just like I demonstrated in the video, Mike 🧓
