Awesome!! Thank you for sharing! My ex keeps hammering nails into my tires. 2 vehicles and 4 tires now in 2 months. I’m 43 I know for certain this is what’s happening amongst all the other crap he’s doing to me with trackers, ect. I appreciate you showing this so I can catch him in action. So thank you!

Hi there - this is an ingenious setup. Does the Power Bank gets charged when the car is on? Thank you
@dadstoysnthings10 ай бұрын
Hello! And yes, that's the idea.
@abc123fhdiАй бұрын
you could just use a usb cable into the power bank and into the usb port on the dash cam. and have the battery bank charge from the cigarette lighter adapter. It doesn't go into parking mode though which would use less battery and give you a longer run time.
@dadstoysnthingsАй бұрын
Thanks, I'm now using a power station for this purpose.

is it safe for extreme temperature? extreme heat?
@dadstoysnthingsАй бұрын
These contain Lithium batteries so I wouldn't leave it in the car in extreme heat.

What battery are you using?

I'm using the EasyLonger Power Bank, it's in the description if you want to check it out. I've also used thr Bluetti EB3A, but sometimes Bluetti turns off because of the low power draw.

I'm searching a PowerBank for my dashcam to plug between the car plug and the dashcam, i want the Powerbank to turn automatticaly on when i start the car and automatically start recording the dashcam while charging but that continue powering the dashcam once parked. And with a OFF button so that i can turn the powerbank off once arrive home to stop the dashcam manually and not draining the powerbank... Anyone have something to recommand ? THANKS :)

My battery pack brand new and another one shut off after it almost loaded up. I will try yours and see if it can stay on.

The recording should kick in when the camera detects motion only/ parking mode for the power bank to last longer
@dadstoysnthings3 ай бұрын
Yes, it has a parking mode. But honestly, I'm not worried because I switched to a small power station since. And I could leave it on for days.
@yutube1452Ай бұрын
Just hardwire it, when you do this parking mode doesnt get activated for most dash cams. This method just keeps the dash cam running like the car is on. For parking mode your dash cam needs to sense the car is off but power is being given (ACC)?
@dadstoysnthingsАй бұрын
I didn't want to void the warranty of the vehicle. And living in a colder climate, that's also inviting a dead battery, my dashcam has front and back camera.
@yutube145227 күн бұрын
@dadstoysnthings yes power station would work fine. I ended up getting a blackvue b130x (dash cam battery) because I need parking mode when I park in the streets. I'm going to catch those bad parallel parkers 😁

I've seen videos of people using USB-battery packs to power their dash cam instead of setting up a hardwire kit to hook up to their car battery which will eventually kill their battery. I'm at the point where I'm trying to find the most affordable battery. I'd like to get a USB lithium ion portable battery, but those have certain risks related to fires. But the other dedicated batteries are so much more expensive. I don't want to have to pay $300 just to set up my dash cam.
@dadstoysnthings Жыл бұрын
You just need to select a power pack that doesn't turn off when it doesn't detect a power draw. But so far, I have used this setup and haven't had any issues. Just to make sure my dash cam keeps recording. I also tried the Bluetti EB3A, it's small and compact. For the most part it's just the PowerBank.

Io ho scelto di alimentare direttamente il powerbank dall'accendisigari e sull'uscita a 5 volt ho collegato la Dashcam aggiungendo un interruttore per staccare l'alimentazione quando sono in garage
@dadstoysnthings7 ай бұрын
@rolandocavallo56 Yes, there are vehicles where the socket remains active even when the vehicle is off. Being in a colder climate, though, I made that mistake once and came back to a dead battery. For most vehicles nowadays, the socket loses power when the vehicle is not running.
@gamepad31732 ай бұрын
I might consider this, though I'm opting for throwing in a USB toggle switch and a USB relay and lastly a USB Battery station to charge my battery banks for my dads van, so this would work as well.

Hey guys, hows it going. Do not use a standard power bank. In extreme heat it will explode voiding your car insurance as they are not an approved car accessory. The only battery I have heard that is safe is a LIFEPO4. According to web they can handle extreme heat without voiding your car insurance. Take care.
@dadstoysnthingsАй бұрын
Agreed, not in extreme heat.

i followed your instructions but why does my dashcam keeps rebooting up?

the usb power supply is only 4 v. you need 12v , your will fry the system over a short time

I'm glad it worked on my dashcam, and since I made this video, I switched to using the Bluetti EB3A as I wanted to leave the camera running longer. But if I'm just leaving it for a few hours in the parking lot, I still use the big power bank.
@Irujime05293 ай бұрын
power bank is not safe though, they cant handle heat and cold well, it may set your car on fire or worst it will explode
@dadstoysnthings3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment. Precautions should always be taken, especially in extreme temperatures.
@TattooedRobot3 ай бұрын
That is a pointless set up. Just get a sensor that turns on the camera for 1 minute when it senses a person. Use a hardwire kit, and set the camera to parking mode.
@dadstoysnthings3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I didn't want to hardwire anything on my vehicle as it's still under warranty.

@@dadstoysnthings instead you could TURN ON continuously using a mini solar panel, solar controller and your power bank.
@dadstoysnthings7 ай бұрын
@tnamen1307 You could, I've tried that with my 40W solar panel to trickle charge the power bank during sunny days. For this current setup, I'm able to hide the power bank and even the power station from view.
