2 thumbs way up for PAM just because it's natural and biodegradable! Your the second angler that I've heard it from and I'm glad that its your favorite. Also works well on lines. Really enjoyed this informative vid. Thanks for the tips!

I wished I had seen this video yesterday before heading out. We had one hell of a fun night, but it was a real chore just to make one cast. The upside was that we were hooking up on each cast, but then having to pick ice out of our guides after each retrieve/fish, haha. I put some Vaseline in the guides, and I had some fly line dressing laying around and I put that on my Power Pro line. Hopefully tonight I'll be spending more time efficiently working my Husky Jerk than picking ice off ever other cast, haha.

I've snapped the rod tip off 2 times already with ice on the leader knot. No more micro guides for me.

which one of these substances is best to use on a flyfishing leader? My primary worry is the oil coming off of the leader and spooking the finicky winter tailwater fish out here in Colorado.

Harken, I'd recommend a product by LOON called Stanley's Ice-Off Paste.

Don't these products put an odd smell in the water for the fish? It's bound to get on the line...
