July 15, 2023, I bought 11 square yards of topsoil to fill in the patchy dead areas. Lawn had a lot of frost then drought damage since January. Will it not bounce back and fill in now because it’s in these hot months (Tampa)? The grass looks greener and the roots are def cooler because they are covered with the topsoil and retains more water. Can I expect the runners to run significantly during this time or…? Wish I could share before and after photos. Thank you for the vids. They have been very, very helpful.

Yess!!! Soil is the best thing to do!! It will take time, but that best move you could have made. Be patient and add more in the worst spot if needed.

I live in Texas and it's beyond 100 degrees hot here. I have the greenest lawn in my subdivision. All I do is use superturf fertilizer and I water. When I get home from work I look at my soil and if it's starting to look dry I start to water even if it's at night since it's so hot there's no way fungus can grow in these extreme heats. I wish I could upload video.

Great info! Is there a pre-emergent that works for Doveweed?

Dithiopyr and Prodiamine will both work great. The hard part is Dove weed loves wet areas, and pre emergents don't work as well in wet areas. Always does weed come late in the summer, and a lot of the spring pre emergent is wearing down. If the area you continue to have issues in has thick grass, you could apply another round of pre emergent when you start to see in your lawn.

Any tips on controlling torpedo grass in St. Augustine? Seems like glyphosate or solarization is the only way to remove this.

Kill it!! Re sod then keep the lawn thick. Torpedo loves wet areas, so try to control sitting water if possible.
