Here is my issue with the very first part you mentioned, regarding stance: when a fighter is in the pocket, I think we would both agree that nothing less than a strong, tight and high guard will suffice. Now, what you're saying is stand more upright to prevent shoulder fatigue. This is an absolute MUST NOT, especially when within range - it undermines the whole point of a guard in the first place. To any novice reading this you should never stand upright, with your chin in the air. To help hit the point home, we should always think in terms of bringing the head down into the guard, rather than bringing the hands up. That is not to say you will not get shoulder fatigue. You will. From my experience, the only way to condition these muscles is to have the discipline in training to keep your hands up at all times, even when on the heavybag. In time, not only will the shoulders become conditioned enough, you won't even need to think about it, to the point where it will be instictual.

And it's usually the REAL BOXERS that are most polite. You gotta have respect when you're a fighter. Otherwise, everybody in the gym is gonna be looking to knock you out. Nobody likes a shit-talker.

hey, johnny great videos bro i'm a subscriber i just have a couple of questions.. my first question is who do you think would win between mayweather and pacquiao? my other question is how can i avoid getting really tense and relax when i spar? my coaches said i was too tense last time i spared i think a lot of it has to do with me not sparring much because i don't get to go to the boxing gym ever but even when i just hit the mitts or shadow box even i'm too tense and can't relax

Is this boxing only though? In muay thai we learn the long gaurd. Which, is basically your palms out in front of you. Then, slam in with elbows or knees to close distance.

@@expertboxing Bro, your boxing would be more than enough. Throw in some low kick training, doesn't even need to be above the waist. You'd be what's called to a muay mat, and I honestly don't think I've ever seen one throw a high kick. It's all angles, punching, knees, and low kicks. You could probably win a tournament or two without even kicking. But, you'd probably want to learn to check kicks so you don't lose to low kicks yourself

Mayweather & pacquiao, I say watch the fight when it happens. Relaxing while sparring, try to spar at a slower speed. Obviously you're going too fast, so slow it down. A tense guy can't handle the faster pace, so keep down the pace. It's that simple.
