You skate really well, I'm 34 and have been skating since I was 14, although it's been on and off the last 8 years, I am dedicating at LEAST an hour a day to skateboarding and I really like your channel, simple and straight to the point, not a bunch of random comedy and ego which annoys me. I like how you break down the foot position and you're helping me land tricks I was struggling with for years.

Hi, thank you so much for the tip! Anyway, just a little (nerdy) clarification between 2:30 - 3:30 : When you put the foot more off the board, it flips faster not because of the less friction but because you apply a force at a greater distance from the axis of rotation of the board, thus generating a larger torque --> it flips faster. Moreover, I guess the "less friction argument" is not solid; if you think about it, if you have less friction when the foot is more off the board, it means that when you flick the foot, less force is transferred to the board, thus it would flip slower with this argument.
@austinthenoob4 ай бұрын
Maybe I'm resurrecting a dead post, but regarding your second point, less friction between the shoe and the board would allow your foot to move faster, making the board flip faster. I think the force of friction isn't the main thing that makes the board flip to begin with, because people can do kickflips and 360 flips on boards with no grip tape at all. Rather, the flip comes from applying force directly into the board by kicking into it
@andreafantasia95514 ай бұрын
@@austinthenoob Hey! Yeah thinking about it, I guess you're right, well spotted, thank you. Not a dead post at all, but dead skater ahah (I mean I quitted almost 2 years ago after many years)

Pop slide, and then flick. Don’t just pop and flick right away, almost do an Ollie motion with your upper foot/ toe should help, I’ve always done my flip 5-0s and such with a normal foot position

Think about flicking up off the nose more to level it out. Maybe you're flicking too much off to the side? That'll rocket really fast. 🚀
