Sometimes you need an expert, and this was one of those times. Check out Matt's channel The Grass Factor. He goes over the chemistry and really nerdy side of lawn chemicals which fascinates me. I find out what works, and use it, but he actually knows WHY it works ;-)

Sorry for being late to the game. I live in NE and have some Bermuda patches. At first I didn’t know what it was, but boy is it aggressive! Pylex is cost prohibitive at $500 for an 8 oz bottle; not happening. After calling DMO, they recommend Acclaim Extra. I plan to apply it with some Triclopyr mixed in and see what happens.

Keep me updated! I've heard that Acclaim Extra + Triclopyr is a good combo but never got to try it myself.

So the closer I looked, the more Bermuda I found. Decided to go nuclear instead and killed my lawn. Bought seed and Kinder starter fert from the Seed Superstore. Question... Is it OK to apply Milorganite and Tenacity right after seeding? Pretty much following your videos, except using different starter fert and self-mixing Tenacity.

Hello will this method or is there another method get rid of Zoysia grass out of my lawn.

Pylex is expensive af! Do what I did, ornamec 170 and triclopyr in last part of the summer, second application in the early fall right before it starts to go dormant, and another one in early spring when it wakes up. This will take about 2 to 3 years. This method will cost about 60 dollars compared to 500 for his method. Finally, overseed, but do not aerate!! Aerate will chop up and spread burmuda roots that will later sprout.

palillo2006 I did the same thing! Great advice mate. If you have really dense areas as well of Bermuda. Hit them with glyphosate. I did all this over 2 seasons and I have yet to see any Bermuda come back.

Triclopyr is one of the best weed killers I've seen in a while. First time using it a couple weeks ago. Way better than 2-4D and Quinchlorac.

@@bluegrasscrazy7307 so once you have mown it a couple times then do light weekly apps of nitrogen. It's called spoon feeding. It'll help it thicken fast.

Round up, or dig it out if it’s a small enough area. 3-4 seasons is too long. I have two patches in my front yard, i may dig it up and transplant to my side yard which is mostly Bermuda. Front yard is 90% fescue.

LOL, a collaborative video with you and Matt. Brilliant! I'm surprised as hell that Matt didn't tell you to embrace the Bermuda like he did me. I've learned so much from his channel, and it's helped me a lot with my lawn, even as sad as it currently is. And how dare you call bermuda a "weed"... the other warm season members of TLF will be bringing their pitchforks out.

Since we're on this topic here, my question now is, as far as "rolling one's own" what about a roll between ornamec 170 and turflon e and maybe a surfactant, although I think the 170 has surfactant pre mixed if I'm not mistaken I very well could be. Please respond I have yet to get any responses from anyone on the comments section. Thanks.

Thanks for making this video. Pylex is waayyy to expensive the individual home owner. Matt knows his stuff but he also has a lawn care business that allows him to buy all those chemicals and get paid for using them. As Palillo2006 said, i'll stick with Ornamec and Triclopyr. Also with Fescue, we usually have to overseed during the fall, so we have to be careful what chemicals we put down.
@GrassDaddy
@GrassDaddy 7 жыл бұрын
+Rob J ya personally I'd go the glypho route and nuke it and then seed hehe
@robj422
@robj422 7 жыл бұрын
If I did that, i'd be taking out a good portion of my yard. When I aerated and overseeded last year and we got maybe 2 days of rain the entire Fall Neither of these two days were anywhere near the first three weeks after I put seed down. This left me driving my water bill through the roof trying to get new seed to grow. I'd hate to try to get a good portion of my lawn back after using glypho on it.

Grass Daddy Hi! I shallow hollow tined and raked up the cores then put "Myke" a beneficial fungus supplement on, it rained a bit and I irrigated Saturday morning and this afternoon I put cornmeal on, a finer grind than you used a year ago then rubbed it in with the back of a rake. If that doesn't feed the fungus, nothing will!

I'm dumb in math but when you say oz per acre what is it it oz per gal?
@jim2325
@jim2325 7 жыл бұрын
1 oz per acre means, 1 oz of Pylex spread evenly over 43560 square feet using a carrier liquid, usually water. Get the math down to how much Pylex you need to put on 1000 square feet. (1/43560)x1000=0.023 oz then you add that amount into 1 gal of water and spray that evenly over 1000 square feet of turf.

Pylex by BASF (1 ounce per acre) Triclopyr (8 ounces per acre) Methylated Seed Oil or Crop Oil Concentrate as a surfactant I use COC at 1% by volume Matt also mentioned normal glyphosate for a total kill, which should be applied at 4% by volume. Be careful with the glyphosate though, as some brands include a defoliator (Diquat, etc), which isn’t good in this situation. Defoliated plants don’t uptake chemicals as well. Just glyphosate takes longer to show effects, but just trust it is killing it!! Good luck!! FYI. Matt was the one that got me going on this recipe, and it just flat works. Matt Martin from the Grass Factor is the man!!

I live near Chicago. Is there a professional type of grass seed from Lesco or someone that make a good disease resistant Kentucky Bluegrass or blend of different types of seed that will prevent dollar spot and brown patch? I ask because in the Fall I will aerate and over-seed that disease problem area in my lawn and I want to do the job right the first time, thanks.

4% glyphosate is 5oz per gal or 10 TBSPN per gal. Shit no wonder I don't get results. Why are all the home owner labels so shit? Why does my 41% glyphosate bottle say 2 TBSPN / gal for weeds and 5 TBSPN / gal for really tough weeds?

@@GrassDaddy I deserved that for commenting on a 4 year old video. Still, I suppose there is some solitude in knowing this has always been a problem. I should probably just renovate my backyard at this point, but it’s a tough pill to swallow. I’m giving the Ornamec OTT a shot. Still pricey, but nothing like Pylex.
