I just beat the shura gauntlet today: A few noob tactics I learned: 1. Don’t try to beat him in one day, play his memory until you can beat him reliably enough and then play the gauntlet. 2. If you don’t think you can dodge/parry his slow overhead attack reliably, certain moves can stagger him out of it, such as ichimonji (DO NOT GO FOR DOUBLE), the last hit of Sakura Dance, etc. He usually does that attack after the running sweep so just jump and queue up your combat art. 3. Sakura dance will actually counter-hit his mist-raven attack and you can use it in neutral somewhat reliably in his first phase for more damage. 4. Fire owl now has 2 variants. If you see the “危” symbol as he launches the owl, time your jump. If not, time your dodge to the LEFT. He will follow with mikiri so be ready. If you’re really close when he launches the owl, you can also get a few free hits but this is a 50-50 on whether you get punished so prolly don’t do it lmao. The rest is just fundamentals, whittle his vitality, don’t get hit. Good luck guys

Well, this wasn't easy, it lasted 2 and a half hours, but i finally got my shura outfit. My advice for this fight is, be passive until you chop some od his health then go full aggressive and tap L1 immedietly when he uses mist raven.

lol I did this gauntlet today, the only problem I had was with the demon if hatred cheese, I defeated inner father first try, because most of the moves were from the owl father fight. So, most of my time was spent cheesing the demon of hatred.😂😂

to anyone who wants some extra advice, never attack more than twice in a row in phase 1, and more than once (unless he’s charging the overhead slam) in a row in phase 2. the mist raven usage can be really erratic and just playing less aggressive is VERY helpful.

This is what's fun about Sekiro... my strategy is COMPLETELY the opposite. Keep attacking and you catch him in a loop because his attacks are too slow, but you do have to be ON YOUR TOES for when he blocks yyou and you get the last sword clank, because the next hit will not work so you have to switch to parry

Great explanation! Been practicing him for hours in the reflection fights, managed to get him right after watching your video. Too bad the reflections don't give you any reward lol now a few more wins and onto the gauntlet. My advice to anyone, until his health is below 50% don't bother being aggressive unless you know the fight like the back of your hand, like you see in Cainfoe's vid (He can be more aggressive because he actually knows his moves). Also save as many video clips of your runs as you can, and study your mistakes, and what is most consistent for you. I found when he does his sweep attacks, I would jump in the direction he's going to roll, and hit him twice on the way down, triggering his ichi attack, allowing me to get an addition 2 hits followed with an IMMEDIATE dash to the side, exposing his back for 1-2 more hits. This was by far my biggest opening to get maximum damage, without needing a bunch of buffs or anything. Finally, my best advice is... listen to cainfoe.

@Mr.LouiTheRonin there's no evidence or in game source to back that up. If anything, when it comes to fighting technique, its more likely he learn specifics from Lady Butterfly rather than Owl. Owl was a parental figure, but nothing suggests he trained Wolf himself in fighting techniques.

No googleing needed, just play the damn game for half an hour. @Mr.LouiTheRonin This is untrue. The texts are how wolf learns them in the game. The reason why Owl uses them is because Inner versions of bosses use moves the Sekiro also uses. For example, Inner Genichiro uses Wolf's range+melee to close ground.

I found it really hard to dodge the vermillion bird side attack (not the sweep), but the best way to deal with it is the suzaku lotus umbrella. Blocks all fire attacks. Then just mikiri the thrust, don’t use projected force. Great guide btw

In my experience the suzaku umbrella doesn’t block the fire owl. Maybe you deflected it? Because if I just block it with the umbrella I still take hella damage, that’s what happened last time I tried it so I just dodge it now

The proper way to deal with the fire bird is as follows: Danger kanji -> jump. No kanji -> dodge (i. e. press the dodge button, no direction button, before the attack connects). Since it's not a perilous attack, the i-frame of dodge negate the attack.

Unfortunately there's no glitch or cheese for this boss, just try it over and over and over, learn his patterns and do not dodge, just keep parrying, use the mortal blade when the chance is open for an attack, jump when you see the kanji and please, focus on polishing your mikiri counter; this boss is insane, just be patient, the mortal blade increases his posture bar.

Remember what I said about the umbrella? Well the day has come. I had been able to beat Inner Owl by himself before, but today I finally beat the Shura Gauntlet. Not gonna lie, I did use the cheese method for Demon of Hatred, but I had beat it legitimately before so I didn't care. I didn't want to lose right before Inner Owl and have to start over from Emma. It was a very slow fight but by playing extremely defensively, only attacking once or twice when I had a safe window. But by the end I still had like 8 Gourd sips and most of my spirit emblems. Thank you again Cainfoe I seriously wouldn't have been able to do it without you. I also beat Inner Isshin with your guide too, learning when to Mikiri him was so useful. You're the best bro, can't wait to see what videos you make when Elden Ring drops.

Video was a huge help. Thanks for uploading guy. Now, for people still struggling, you don't have to use umbrella. I'd recommend it for Isshin, but that's about it. For Inner Father, if you use regular 1-2 slashes, and time your deflects, you should eventually conquer him. He will build up his own posture by simply attacking you. Just focus on keeping your posture up, and deflect as much as you can. Obviously get some damage in when you can, but don't be too aggressive. Use ichimonji x2 in the 1st phase, then just switch to using only 1-2 slashes/deflecting. If you use Ichimonji during the 2nd phase, there's a chance he's use the mist feather bullshit, and you'll be unable to block in time for his attack, because you'll still be stuck in an attacking animation. This is why you use regular slashes. Much safer. But yes, a good time to use the umbrella is when he does his Ichimonji slam. Just time using the umbrella(R2/RT) for a deflect, then immediatley use it to attack(R1/RB) while still holding down R2/RT. Then back to regular slashes. Always try to stay in the middle of the arena for obvious reasons. If the Kanji doesn't show for his firebird attack, it's a side attack, and you need to dodge left or right as the birds about to hit you, then prepare to Mikiri counter his charge. For his "firework slash", when he elbows you, dash toward him immediatley to get behind him for and use opportunity. The slash should miss you if you're quick enough, but if you get stuck at all, be prepared to run back and heal. You can use the "Reflection of strength" to face him as much as you want until your comfortable doing the full gauntlet. Same for the other bosses. Remember, either way, your spirit emblems and any items used will be returned to you in the main game whether you win or lose, and you'll be able to rest inbetween bosses for the gauntlet, so don't be afraid to use them!

I will try your strategy friend, because I really suck at using the umbrella. Didn't even use it to beat Ishin Sword Saint in New Game. And I missed this boss fight my first play through so now I'm doing it for the first time in NG+ and he is truly kicking the crap out of me. So far the only he's the only boss to trip me up the whole NG+ cycle, everyone else I beat easily either my first try or after a couple attempts (Gaurdian Ape in particular took a few tries.) Once I beat this jerk the only one left is Ishin Sword Saint again. That's gonna suck on NG+, I barely managed to beat him in NG.

mist raven mechanics are kinda weird tbh, I'm trying to do a no hit of this since I already did inner isshin and genichiro, but the mist raven double slash kills me a lot of times, like I can consistently deflect 70% of the mist raven attacks he does, but SUDDENLY one of them goes behind my back because my character doesn't move, I think it's mainly because of position issues or something but I fucked up so many runs already because of this :D

Some tips I figured out that helped me beat him using my "earthbending technique." (Avatar fans will get that) wait and listen before striking. Hold your ground and block and try to deflect as you try to learn his move set. Get familiar with certain moves he likes to do. I found that the first stage is hardest for me. The second stage offers more openings to punish him if you play your cards right. Use the whirlwind slash. There are certain attacks where he will take a moment to recover from. These are good openings to use the slash. It's quick, does decent damage, and can damage him through him blocking. It might be slow and a bit tedious, but don't get greedy if you're like me and you're not good at reaction times and deflecting perfectly. As his health drops, his posture will refill more slowly. When he does his long combo moves that end with a firecracker followed by a sword slash, if you jump the moment he throws the firecrackers you can jump on his head and avoid both the firecrackers and the sword slash. You can follow this jump on his head up with a whirlwind slash. This is one of the easiest openings for me to exploit. Any of his attacks where he leaps into the air to attack you or mist ravens into the air can be tanked with the suzaku umbrella and use the projected force skill to attack him with the umbrella after his attack. In the second stage he will frequently do these jump attacks every time he disappears. As soon as he disappears, hide under the umbrella and try to follow the owl flying around to be prepared to counter attack after he appears and strikes you. He also has a mist raven combo in the second stage that can be tanked using the umbrella, and if you continually move towards him during this combo, when he is finished you will be close enough to use projected force again. Be patient. Wait and listen for the openings you know you can exploit before striking. You'll get there eventually. I'm not very good at the game and I suck at timing deflects on most attacks so I had to figure out what methods work for me and what openings I can take advantage of. Good luck earthbenders! UPDATE: very important that I mention this. None of your items that you use are lost during the fight. So feel free to use things like rice, divine grass, jizo statues, and dragon's blood droplet. You will not lose the items you use in the fight when you return to the normal game.

I love owl father, it’s such a fun boss and pretty well designed. The only thing I find frustrating is the damn owl flying around conceals your view, the pillars and the owl gets in the way so you can’t see what he’s doing. He jumps around and sometimes you lose lock on so that can be frustrating. Other than that he’s an awesome boss and I wish great shinobi owl the regular fight wasn’t so easy

@@themanicman8458 Maybe you found Owl Father easier because you already learned the moves from Great Shinobi Owl. I thought Owl Father would be hard but as it turns out I beat him on the second try because I already had learned most of his moves. The poison spam never gave me too many problems, there’s a way to fight him passively that makes it very easy, you can just run around and bait one or two attacks, it’s kinda boring but if he starts laying down poison then you can simply run around it. Same with his lloyd’s talismans that prevent your healing, just run around for awhile lol but if you get hit with both poison and that then you’re probably gonna die.

@@dylanwebb8486 Yeah that’s true to a degree, sometimes he gets stuck on them which gives you some breathing room, but for me it isn’t worth it that sometimes I lose lock on and lose track of him, he ends up behind me, that has got me killed several times. One time I was fighting Inner Father charmless and I lost lock on for one second, got turned around and got one shot.

Bout got the gauntlet my first try which is weird considering it took me 30 trys to beat issian 2nd phase on my ng+ run but that was because I didn't know how to dodge the fire attacks but now it's pretty easy I even got to like a tiny bit of owl 2nd health bar without using a res once on my first try of the gauntlet but I got fucked by a random stutter lol. Every since after that seems like I'm playing like shit against him now which is weird because owl father is one of the easiest bosses to me. I found him easy. Yes he got new moves like Mist Raven Combo but he doesn't spam it. Most of attacks he uses are the same as his previous iterations so I didn't have a lot of problem on him.
