and learn to do almost everything DIY! Ok here's the deal, everyone has items that need rust protection, things you handle all the time...most rust proofers are greasy and messy....for instance, a trailer needs protection as do lawn chairs...do you see where I'm going with this? Oily rust proofers are good for out of sight and non handled items. Oh! and clear coats will not give you the protection you are looking for, you need a clear/ transparent rust KILLER

Hello Great Subscribers, We have had many of you ask how to rustproof something that is handled frequently or items that cannot be repainted like our trailer. Well, this video will show you that nothing you have now needs to rust and our process is invisible doing the job behind the scenes killing the rust. Oh! GUYS don't tell momma about this or she will have you doing her metal lawn furniture lol ***Quote of the day: Change is the only constant in life. I have been using this product for touching up car chassis and motorcycle frame that I don't want to paint, either because I want to keep the original paint or I am just spot treating and will get to it later. Also works on old chrome. I wondered why sometimes it worked and sometimes not, and that was due to the area being dirty and/or greasy, so now I degrease first (or if I'm lazy, blast it with brake cleaner and then the rust converter). If I'm good with leaving a mark or plan to paint over, my favorite (again, lazy) product is the rustoleum rust converter / primer - same applies to that as well, degrease first then apply wet.

So that is a ‘Don’t Buy’ from Rocky’s Trailers I guess? Given the obvious lack of primer on the trailer, the greasing of the wheel bearings was a good call. Thanks for the heads up on this sub par vendor.

Looks like they just put one coat of cheap paint over the rust. Not a good company if this is their quality. They should of sandblasted the metal or anything to get rid of the rust before painting.

Most trailer makes do this. Will weld trailer with hot rolled steel and tubing with black dirt/scale on it and wipe it down with degreaser and spray it black. A way to put less labour in it, less cost to the customer and get it off there lot. Meanwhile a year later the thing is rusting. I know I'm going to making to trailers a 5 x 12 or 14 and 4 x 8. I will finish every thing on the trailer wiring, lights, hold downs, storage box. Then completely strip it down (metal Is already bare) get some muriatic acid and do a 5 to 10 foot section at a time de-rust and take off the steel mill scale off too.Then finish up with a mild Naval Jelly and flush with hot water, dry the metal and Prime with Home Hardware's Metal Primer (3 coats) lightly sand with 320 wet paper and dry and paint white.

Over the last 20 years I've used the same Loctite Extend Rust version but in the 1 litre white plastic bottle. It seems to be a brush paintable PVA style liquid. I can couch for it as well. Works extremely well to stop rust. In Australia there are a few places i have bought it from. Aims Industrial and CBC bearings.

I paint (r v ) frame I can tell You for certain that their Most likely no primer!!L! The more you are able to get the frame painted faster the more you paid for production ( bonus money) I grew up around body & paint shop my dad was auto body and painter so when to in the factory painting frames I disregard all my dad had taught me 🙄 I remember one time I worked in the department that built and painted dumpsters I remember painting dumpsters not even fully dried being put on the tractor trailer wet in the rain I just couldn’t believe it I told my dad need to rolled his eyes at me And this was the time we have been painting with waterborne paint so I never heard anything about them but I can just imagine what they look like when I reach the customer !!! This was in southwest Michigan and Indiana Michigan border so we were one of the main supplier of travel trailer frames and dumpsters so I made good money but sometimes I wonder how long that stuff lasted🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔I hope this gives you a little insight in how things are done in an RV industry I had a almost 12 years of it so I was around him enough to know about stuff by the way great video again and great tips thank you so much for all the hard work you put into your videos

Friend has small rust spots on her roof of her Pearl white 2010 Mazda 3. I was thinking of using the Loctite; in the video you stated I wouldn’t but you can use. I was going to use and if needed get some pearl white touch up paint if needed. What say you my friend?
@SweetProjectCars
@SweetProjectCars 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Shawn, from what you are describing it sounds like you have clear coat rust which is caused by brake dust embedding into your clear coat. If that's what it is, watch this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/j57dlo2JabaCask and use the products shown then use this goo.gl/z9TrgR to coat the surface and the rust will be gone and not come back. If the rust specks that you are talking about are larger than a ball point pen tip, then you'll have to buff out the area with the mix in the attached video and use touch up paint, but by doing the first process you will know in just a few minutes if it's just clear coat rust, pray that it is. Thanks for watching and asking, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC

Yup 6 bucks vs 30 bucks. Amazon retailers always screw Canadian customers on products like this. Amazon doesn't give a crap either. Same price difference on tons of paints and liquid hardware products. 100 bucks for a gallon of 303 in Canada. Daylight robbery.

I'd be concerned about the overall quality of the trailer after seeing that paint job. If they cut corners and cheat on the paint, where else did they cut corners and cheat? Seems like they did no cleanup, or even primer before coat. And the topcoat didn't even have coverage in lower spots.

In all honesty, and I don’t normally poke out bad stuff....those welds look really bad. Like a mig welder 110v unit bad. Which is bad for any trailer, but a trailer that big man I’m just saying. Looks like a nice trailer, but those welds??!! A lot of lipstick on a pig and they can’t even get that right. I enjoy the channel and like your effort and humour.
