Hello! Hoping to try to make this, it’s so cute! When you are combining the 4 yarn pieces do I do that from the one yarn ball or from 4 different ones? Sorry might be a dumb question, but I would love to know! Hoping to make some as a gift before Christmas. Thanks for sharing this content ❤️
@mirellamoments94554 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! :) No worries, it's a good question - you can work with 4 balls of yarn simultaneously, that's the easiest way to knit, but you will need to buy 4 balls of yarn, and you'll have leftover yarn. If you're planning to make multiple hats - then leftover yarn is not an issue, you'll use it up. You can also work with 2 balls - you'll have the yarn tail and you'll pull out the thread from the center of the ball (so one ball = 2 threads of yarn), but this way is less comfortable, then the first one. I wouldn't recommend you trying to knit from one ball - first of all, you'll need to find quite a big ball, and then measure and cut 4 threads ... So I'd advise working with 4 or 2 balls. Hope this helps! :)

I don't get how you purl two together at 4:37
@mirellamoments94554 жыл бұрын
Hi, it might be confusing if you are used to knitting in the English style. I just insert the right needle as if to purl, grab the yarn, and pull it through (I put my finger on the thread, so when I grab it, it stays above the two stitches). This is just the way I work the purl stitch. You can purl the way you want, just purl 2 stitches together :)
@juuejuuebee4 жыл бұрын
Would it work if I do k2p2 instead of the english rib?(it's kinda hard)
@mirellamoments94554 жыл бұрын
@@juuejuuebee Yes, it will work, BUT 2x2 rib is tighter, so the hat will be smaller. Ideally, you need to knit a gauge swatch in 2x2 rib to check your gauge.

Hi! Do you think this tutorial will make a nice hat if I use 3 threads of kid mohair and 1 of regular, thicker wool? To make the hat slightly more dense? I'm not an expert!
@mirellamoments94554 жыл бұрын
Hi, sure, that would work! I'd suggest you try to use 1 thread of kid mohair and 1 thread of thicker wool. You don't really need 3 threads of kid mohair if you will have wool (and kid mohair not so cheap... ). You can try working with 2 threads of kid mohair if you want the hat to be fluffier. Maybe put together 1 thread of wool and 1 thread of kid mohair, and then 2 threads of kid mohair - and see what you like best. Hope this helps!

@@mirellamoments9455 I wanted to ask if it is possible to make this hat not with mohair but with different yarn, e.g. wool, or anything that would say on the label the same size of the needles (5). Would it work, are there any compllications? Thanks a lot!
@mirellamoments94554 жыл бұрын
@@divadloBEZPRKEN Hi there! Thanks for your question, the short answer is yes, you can knit with other yarn. What I like about the English rib, is the fact that the stitches turn out very even, so you can also work with fibers, that typically don't hold the rib sitch very well (for example, 100% alpaca). So you can definitely choose other yarns. If you are very sensitive, then wool or alpaca might feel itchy, so you can go with merino wool or baby alpaca because they are softer. Also, be aware, that natural fibers tend to grow after they are washed, so it's nice to take that into consideration, and knit a gauge swatch. Hope this helps!

Hi, if I use one threads of DROPS Flora and two Kid-Silk, can I still use needles nr 5 and do everything like in the video? Or should I rather use just one Kid-Silk. I would prefer the beanie to be fluffy. Thank you for the video!
@mirellamoments94553 жыл бұрын
Hi, I've personally haven't tried this yarn combination, but it sounds like a good one. It's really hard to say without a gauge swatch, but the combined yarn weight looks suitable for this pattern. Ideally, you need to knit a gauge swatch with the chosen yarn and needles and wet block it, to check if the gauge matches the pattern, and see how this yarn combo transforms after being wet. Hope this helps!

Hi, simply determine how wide you want your stripes to be, and switch to another color at the beginning of a new round. You can also work the brim in one color, and the body of the hat in another.

Hi, you're welcome! :) The hat stretches nicely, and it's for a medium adult size - 54-57cm (21.3-26inches). Honestly, I wouldn't recommend exactly this design for a complete beginner - there are not only knit and purl stitches, but also k2tog and yarn overs, although the pattern is pretty easy to work, but if you have suitable yarn and spare time, you can always give it a go:)
