Thank you. I'm going to make my sister a bed cover for her new bed. This is the easiest, least complicated way to knit the herringbone stitch I've learnt so far. Thanks for sharing! Please enjoy a cuppa, have a nice day ;)

Thank you! I have a pattern that is this stitch and it reads exactly how you are doing it. I just could not clearly visualize it in my head, but this made it crystal clear to me how to do the stitch.

Thank you! I had a pattern I was having trouble with, because the instruction was: k2tog tbl, leave on needle and k the first st tbl and slide off both sts. This is the same thing, but less fiddly and tight

What size needles are you using with your worsted weight yarn? The drape is the best I've seen!

I finally got it, but I have a couple questions. If using a chunky weight yarn what needle size do you recommend and also I’m wondering if there’s a way to make a nicer edge? Thank you and thanks for the excellent tutorial 😀
@TheBlueMouseKnits
@TheBlueMouseKnits 7 жыл бұрын
I'd suggest looking at what size the yarn label suggests and making a test swatch with a needle size or two larger than that to see if you like the feel of it. It's hard to suggest a size because I don't know if you knit loosely or tightly, but I would start there and then just make a few test swatches using different sized needles each time to figure out which you like the feel of best. As for making a nicer edge, try a selvage edge. I like a slipped stitch selvage edge, but there's also icord selvage edges, or add a garter edge by casting on a few extra stitches and knitting them in garter at the beginning and end of your row with the herringbone stitch in between. I'd try the selvage edges first to see how you like them. Hope this helps :)

For the edges, try knitting the last stitch in the back instead of the front.. sorry I don't know the technical term but it leaves no loose-end stitch look

I’ve been nosing around for a scarf to knit for my new coat… this is DEF one of my top 3. Decisions! I wanted to knit it with 2 srptrands together though and that’s probably going to be confusing with this pattern. Might have to rethink my yarn…
@TheBlueMouseKnits
@TheBlueMouseKnits Жыл бұрын
That might be a little confusing at the start, maybe making a swatch with this stitch with one strand to get the stitch down would make it easier to do with 2 strands

Beautiful Work! Would this pattern work in the round say for a hat?
@amy2770
@amy2770 2 жыл бұрын
It's a really firm stitch so just from my limited knowledge I'd guess that it would be suitable for a placemat or purse. For a hat it seems most are knitted with stretch like an English rib or any variation of a rib stitch
