I'm glad you showed it clearly, explained it slowly, and repeated it . I was slow to catch it, but I have it now and will always be able to see the difference. Thank you very much!

This was exactly what I was searching- a way to do a knit/purl rib cast on. I find if I say 'up through the rabbit hole, over the fence, back down the hole' the purl bit goes really fast 🤣. I did the cast on for a knit hat, flat to match the pattern I am working, which will have the body done in Tunisian crochet. The first row I mixed up and did knit over purls, purls over knits, but as you have mentioned before, it's OK to experiment and see if we like the result. It made a pretty edge, so went to normal 2 by 2 ribbing after that. Coming out great! Thank you for all your wonderful videos!

Super easy to follow! I'm so glad I didn't start knitting before your videos existed, because they've been my go-to ever since I clicked on the first one

Something I noticed that dramatically improved the consistency of my long tail purl cast ons, is to scoop up the thumb yarn from behind, rather than in front. Must just be the way I tension the yarn. Thanks for the video.

just to make sure: if you scoop from a different position you are creating a different cast-on. If it's neater for you, go ahead. But you cannot simply change the position, this will twist (or rather untwist) the loop.

Hi Norman, after watching your KLL tutorial (which was great by the way, and thank you). My question is what is your preferred stitch for left leaning increase? Thanks, Sharon
@NimbleNeedles2 жыл бұрын
I don't think I truly have one. It totally depends on the project. but for stockinette stitch it's definitely KLL and KRL as a pair. If you watch this tutorial here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpXFqJ2tbrdpqbc You might see a bit more on increases and how they work. mabye this will give you some ideas.

Hi Norman. Love your channel. I have learned everything I know about knitting from you. Question: if casting on for 2-2 ribbing, what do you do with the initial slip knot? Do you treat it as the first perl, or the first knit, or something else? Sorry if im not making sense. Im very new to this.
@NimbleNeedles Жыл бұрын
yes, you have to treat that as you first (knit) stitch. Do remember, tho, that as you turn around, you will have to purl across it (you are working from the "wrong" side). If you don't want that, you could treat it as a purl stitch and cast-on the second stitch purlwise as well.

I see you used that CO for socks, is it a stretchy one then?
@NimbleNeedles3 жыл бұрын
Well, if you do it around 2 needles, it totally is and it's my preferred method for ribbings (so * 2 normal long tail, 2 purl long tail*)

What about for hats where one wants a tighter brim (one needle size smaller) than body? @@NimbleNeedles
