This is the only "how to purl" video that shows what's going on IN BACK as you're pulling the needle through after wrapping the yarn around. THANK YOU for taking the time to show and explain the catching of the little loop in back before slipping the stitch off the needle!

Wow! You're really great at explaining process slowly and understandably. A gift VERY few ppl have. Please post more!

This was the third or fourth video I watched on the purl stitch, and I finally got it with no problem. The above the needles shot is fantastic and helped me see what I was doing wrong. Thank you so much!

thanx for the help! your hands are so graceful, this is way more informative than reading a book about knitting

Your emphasis at the beginning of the video, where you said to make sure the yarn is at the front of the work for purl (and conversely, must be at the back of the work for knit), helped me learn rib stitch correctly. Thank you!

i had to watch a professional instructional video over a hundred times before i could even do the knit stich but by the end of this video i was doing the purl stitch just as easily as you are in the video! thanks for making such a comprehensive video. :)

Thanks you so much! You were extremely clear, and moved your needles so slowly; it actually gave me a really chance to see what was going on! Thank you!

I really appreciate your explanation. Yours was the third video I watched and I was beginning to get a bit discouraged. I thought I'd never get this but you managed to make it simple and easy to follow. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I was just yelling and swearing at myself in my living room, trying to teach myself the purl stitch (and I started knitting to de-stress). I watched dozens of other videos and just wasn't able to get the hang of it. Everyone just said "then push the stitch towards the back." What does that even mean??? I was beyond frustrated. Then I discovered this video! Just made sense. Thank you so much.

Ah this was so helpful! I was trying to learn from a book but the diagram was too confusing and the directions weren't very clear (don't think they did it the same way), but seeing it in action made it waaay easier! I just purled 18 stitches thanks to you! Now to practice some more! I'll definitely be using your videos if I get stuck elsewhere. Thanks!

Before this video, I though knitting was some sort of fancy witchcraft that only a few people could do. This helped s much! A lot of other videos go too fast and use terms unknown to a beginner.
@elsteffo13 жыл бұрын
@Mubarak635 If you purl through the other loop, it's referred to as 'purling through the back loop' or 'pbl' for short. It results in a twisted stitch. I did a video on knitting and purling through the back loop.

Most of the time the purl alternates with the knit. So you would cast on then do a knit row, purl row, knit row, purl row etc. When you only purl, it is supposed to look the same as only using the knit stitch

I am having the worst time ever!!! I have a row that looks like crap and my yarn in between my needles is some how getting longer and longer as I go!! :( SO frustrating! I am trying to be calm, but I'm ready to whip these needles out in the snow! I am completely new to knitting and I am making a baby blanket for World Visions "Knit for Kids". This is the pattern I am suppose to follow: Directions: Cast on 95 stitches Row 1: K 1, *p 1, k 1; repeat from * to end. Repeat this row 8 times for seed stitch border. Row 10: *K 1, p 1; repeat from * twice - 6 stitches seed stitch border, p 83, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 1, p1, k1 on last 6 stitches for seed stitch. Row 11: Work 6 stitches seed stitch ( k 1, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 1, p 1), k 83, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 1 on last 6 stitches for seed stitch. Repeat last 2 rows until 33 inches from beginning. Repeat row 1, 8 times. Bind off in seed stitch (k 1, p 1 to end). I have no idea, but can someone help?? I have been switching between this video and the knit video as the directions say k1, p1, k1, p1
