Another good self defense technique. Thanks for showing this to us . You videos help more than you know . You can never have too many street self defense techniques. We can add this one to the arsenal. Thanks again. A good suggestion for your next video. Should follow up to this one . How about another knockout technique. Something we can use today . They are more likely to break and don't deliver as much force, sure if ur whipping ur hands like they do in the hood go ahead, but if ur punching, use ur big knuckles, or just open ur hand and slap around the the ear REAL hard, that usually rings their bell.

Hi Nick, Please can we have a video about how to lash out, make the first strike as i get "stuck" when adrenaline kicks in. Id know something bads about to happen, but my body is pinned to the spot shivvering... or is that just practice and training to free up movement?. / Btw, you videos about awareness of surroundings helped me in a street fight because i positioned myself opposite a lamppost and the drunk attacker couldnt coordinate his punches past it. So i got to walk away. Your videos make so much sense, all the best bro, have a great year ahead. I also like your motivational videos.

Nick can you teach something I think would be very important. You see, people who are not used to fighting if someone starts swinging at you you automatically blink nonstop and close your eyes. How do you train so you have "FULL" control with the situation (where people are standing etc) with adrenalin and all. Because I don't think my problem would be hitting, my problem would be defending punches without getting "blinded". If they hit me once it would hurt so much as well - and only adrenalin can save me. But to defuse the situation I need to "See clearly". If they start swining on me, how do I have control and not blink/close my eyes so much?

Yeah drills and conditioning there's no quick mental trick as it's a subconscious response. EDIT: Accepting that you might take a hit or two is helpful actually. It kinda changes the way you're thinking, into taking the hits on your arms and shoulders instead of your face. If you're afraid of getting hit at all your brain kinda goes into "flight mode" and it's hard to think. Source for this is just from starting Muay Thai in a gym, used to be terrified of taking 50% hits to the face even with a glove. You're stronger than you know. Oh also tuck your chin you'll feel safer.

Small note, while deliberate hits to the back of the head are illegal. Deliberate hits are not. If the boxer opens his palm and hits the opponent with the palm side of the glove when it was meant to be a hook because he was in range and then opponent fucked up. It is a legal move. Tyson many times knocked out his opponent exactly like this. Also the back of the head as been shown to not been shown to knock people out easier. The reason why it's banned is because of the permanent damage one person gets when being struck in the back of the head and the likely hood of ever lasting results of BRAIN DAMAGE NOT because of an advantage in knocking people out easier when struck. Good luck to your partner's brain if you actually intend to practice this technique on a live resistance opponent. It is a good move to know though.

Not to say any of this is false or inneffective in any way, but, in reality, Fighting takes a toned body, with muscle memory after a very long time of infinite hour of practice. It also take the will to do it. Not all who train are mentally capable of wilfully hurting people. The Martial Arts industry is full of them. Training will always help but the Warrior Ethos comes from deep inside. Training hones what's there but won't instill it. My issue with all of these things is I believe there is a real danger in thinking your capable because you hit the dojo every Saturday. That will get you hurt or worse. Training never hurts. Just don't go out there with any false confidence. The craziest part is a real attacker won't just stand there like your training buddy while you do your "moves".

Two things.... By hitting where you are showing the inside of the forearm close to the wrist two things could happen...1.. break your wrist...2 you ever hit someone in the inside of your forearm make your arm go numb... Also the way you are swinging you could dislocate your shoulder as well as your rotator cuff being injured.... It is my stipulation that a hammer fist to that area that you are showing is far more efficient and cuts down on any injury that I had explained that could take place in your technique….. just saying

This is another great video, presented well, with great knowledge, but I think people need to understand the legal consequences of these types of attacks. I do cringe a bit when it talks about knockout, as potentially a blow to the back of the head can kill. I was taught to break the neck you hit the back of it upwards, different position to how to Nick was doing it and maybe an old wise tail? However, I read recently in a paper a person died from a punch, the punch did not kill him but the back of his head hitting the floor gave him massive brain injury showing just how deadly blows to the back of the head can be. He died in his sleep next to his girlfriend that night. I’m not against this technique in a street fight, it seems very effective, but people should be educated they could kill with strikes to the back of the head, they are considered “military or ancient fighting. styles" repeatedly hammer fisting the back of the head its very dangerous and I was taught this would kill. See the link below en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_punch

Well said I think there should be a disclaimer that this is a military technique and could kill and use at your own risk. It may knock the person out forever. I agree for a woman to give her an edge over size this is a perfect blow, your hitting the brain stem and cervical area where muscles do not grow, yet it’s not for the faint hearted, as it could result in serious brain injury or death. Not something kids at school should try!!
