I do not like being an empath at all. That’s too much power to have. I can’t be in crowds of people, I can feel people all the time. I’m often depressed because I unknowingly absorbed another’s depressed state. I can feel people through walls. I can literally meet a person for the first time and in a few minutes, I completely know the person. I can tell when a person is lying to me. Everyone always seems to come to me for advice. It was fun at first, but it’s extremely overwhelming. I literally shut myself inside the house.

i deliberately dont read the news because it affects me so profoundly. Reading about people dying or undergoing hardships and strife always leaves me crying my eyes out. When I tell people I don't read the news for this reason, they look at me like as though I'm insane. That they want to know what's going on in the world. That they've become desensitized. People tell me their problems and I absorb their emotions and take them as my own and it gets so mentally exhausting that I sometimes can't differentiate between my emotions and people's emotions. My problem is that I have a nurturing, healing soul. I always want to help people no matter what. To ease their suffering in any way I can and when I can't.. it makes me despair.
@saraa43536 жыл бұрын
I am the same. I try to have a lot of ME time. As many hours as possible. Just so I can recharge my energy and stop feeling emotionally overwhelmed. It's a dilemma: I have this innate drive to help people because it's my purpose in life and at the same time I try to avoid people only cuz I end up feeling emotionally worn out to the point where I end up crying and feeling profoundly sad. I often have trouble breathing cuz my chest feels heavy when I am sad.

Our feelings should not govern us; they are tools that we must manage. Never allow your "feelings" to be in the driver's seat, they will usually steer you in the wrong direction. Since childhood people have said “don’t be so sensitive!” so I’ve grown up trying REAL HARD to not be sensitive, but I can’t help that. I cry from movies, tv, hell even commercials! I turn off the aspca commercials cuz I just can’t. I can feel, and explain, how others feel. I’m even sensitive towards words being over used. Every time you used the word ‘literally‘, I rolled my eyes.

I do pity those people because they might be people diagnosed with Anti-social personality disorder which is caused by traumas in their life that broke the frontal lobe of their brain which is responsible for empathy,so doing crimes and being cruel feels addiction to them like a pleasure even if they don't like the bad things they did and they know they'll regret in the end cuz when they get called out they always hurt themselves and said:"I want to feel!" So maybe there's part of childhoods trauma where they were taught that emotions are weakness...So doing crimes is like a drug to them and their struggles are like of a drug addict because they might crave it but will regret they did it

This explains my social anxiety disorder. I used to be in a toxic situation at work. I was surrounded by negativity and bullying. It's so difficult to be around phony people. I cant be lied to because I see right thru the lies. I want to give people the benefit of the doubt because I feel guilty that I know they are lying and than I realize later that I was correct in the individual lying to me, and I get burned by this person and then I dont trust anyone. Its exhausting. I'm older now and I find I cant tolerate certain people, and situations that I could tolerate when I was younger. I'm even finding out that I will sometimes avoid hobbies that I thoroughly enjoy because it involves dealing with people. I know I cant live like that I just find it very challanging. I know that I need lots of sleep and I guess I need to start jounaling too. I hope journaling will help.

In my case, I’ve become so “cold” with people who approach me because I’m scared of their “energy” and many times I’m so withdrawn that I lose the change to meet nice people. In my workplace I couldn’t stand have my lunch in the staff room so I was on a daily basis in the park eating my sandwich holding an umbrella on the other hand (Londoney weather🤷🏽♂️). Doing so, I just made myself look as the mean one who doesn’t like people. The truth is I love people! I just need to built some boundaries so that their feelings and energy doesn’t affect me.

I didn't know I was an empath for the majority of my life. The chaos, low self-esteem, depression, relationship issues, etc. are the telltale signs of being an empath and not knowing it. I have always tended toward a person who internalizes everything and turns inward and blame myself for whatever the issue is...shame, blame, self-abuse...I had a lot of healing to do, and am still doing... That being said, as an empath, the greatest gifts that God has given me are the gifts of discernment and the gift of being grounded. I've known I had the discerning gift for most of my life, but the other one has only come to light in the past year...and has helped me to have more confidence in what intuitively comes to me about and for others. These have been the most helpful to me until I had a conscious realization that I was an empath. You can pray for gifts. I was in a 23-year relationship that had so much cognitive dissonance that it was extremely confusing to me for the first 10-15 years. I ended up doing so much internal, personal work to figure what was really true...what was me and what was the other person. I got so good at it, I was able to immediately discern what was mine and what was theirs. I have studied as much as I could get my hands on about human relationships, emotions, and the body, it has saved my sanity! Now, I can identify so much about human behavior and base my findings on truth and correct principles. It amazes, even me, sometimes when I can meet someone and be clear about why they are in pain and how to find healing...it's really amazing...and I'm grateful for all the relationship and life trials I've experienced because each one has, and still does, give me so much growth and learning! Bless you for what you are doing!

The people that are "wary" of you are likely other empaths that are using their ability in a negative way. They may not even realize they are empaths but they do know they are using their abilities in a negative way. They sense you, your ability, and your "goodness" and are threated by it. 1. Sense of guilt because at some level they know they are doing bad things, 2. you'll see through their games and can expose them. Normally they'll just avoid you for those reasons. If you are forced to interact (say people at work) with them on a regular basis they will see you as a threat so be careful.

As a empath it is very difficult being around people. I can feel their emotions times 1000. Sometimes i can handle it sometimes i cant. Binaural beats helps a-lot. I know that some of them are my assignments to help others but sometimes i am too drained to help them. I am researching techniques to help shield me when I’m not able to help. i only help when my energy is high.

It’s isolating because as much I want to make close honest friendships and as much as I am honest and open people aren’t. I think they want to be and I think they are drawn to me because I am, i feel their willingness even excitement but also discomfort when they give too much of themselves and maybe feel exposed by that.
@barbaraetter7734 жыл бұрын
Interesting perspective you said... how people feel discomfort when they give too much of themselves.. I’ve lost new “friends” for that reason and didn’t understand why, but it makes so much sense with what you said.... I felt hurt, but, I understand now...

I can walk into a room of people and hear and feel everything. I get anxiety. My anxiety increases when I can hear and feel their childhood wounds and experiences. Reading the thoughts and analyzing, my body absorbs it. I can tell who the narcissist and empaths are. I find kayaking on a lake brings me back to clarity.

Sammy Nakhla I'm very empathetic .Even as a child . I'm not sure if it was because of my Mother or not .She was always odd when I was little , but gradually became more and more nasty to me the older I got . Once I married and left home she did everything she could to turn my family against me . It never stopped until I went "no contact" in my early fifties . For me I feel I was born empathetic 🤗

I'm an empath and at first I thought I was going crazy. The energy from different people can be uplifting or discouraging. Being an empath means that we need to make sure that our needs are met as well. 😊

Consider the possibility that being an Empath, specifically being tuned in to people's emotions from subtle things like tone of voice and minor facial expressions, was something developed as a defense mechanism in childhood when dealing with people with volatile and unpredictable Vesuviun tempers, especially parents or grammar school teachers with BPD.

I went to Cathoilic School before 1970; while there were many nice nuns, most of the nuns over the age of 55 were utter sociopaths, and of course, before 1970, they beat you for whatever reason they felt justified it. To be a victim of their wrath, you didn't have to do anything, they just had to be having a bad day...
@michelekurlan79506 жыл бұрын
Michael J. Loudis yep. this is not psychic or magic or a sorcial "gift",its typically learned and one better work out the primal issues before "coaching" others. And i have noticed,therz little room in the lives of less sensitive people for this. I remember thinking i had some special.perceptual powers until a therapist said pretty much what you pointed out in your comment. Humans love catagorizing bcuz it adds some structure to this world...i guess. good comment,thx

My family made me an empath. It's like a defense mechanism. I have to be "sensitive" when I'm around them in order to avoid being taken advantage of. After years of gaslighting and scape goating, I've developed some sort of intuition skills. 😩

People have so often said to me , ' I feel I can talk to you about anything .' They have told me they can confide things in me . And they can !! Because I want to hear it. I feel it . I tend not to judge either . I feel like a very old soul who has heard and indeed experienced so much of this ...before . But it feels like a torrent . When someone lays all their stuff on you . You feel it. I passed out in a neighbour's hallway once when she told me about losing her young husband to a heart attack. I felt like I was there with her on that day. There are times a plenty when I wish I was not an empath . But I am . Got to live with it!!!. You have to own it...as they say . Know thy empath self . Self awareness. Load it as a super strength. A super power even . And you can use it to guard you against others who seek to use you or harm you in some way Of course you can use it to help and guide friends and family . But remember you may not be a be a mental health professional. So you cannot move mountains for people . Nor should you expect yourself to . Take it easy on yourself you empaths .

As an empath I haven't been able to keep a relationship and until discovering the meaning of empathy I always felt like I was the problem but it was because I felt all the wrongs, the lies and deceptive energies etc...I could never address an issue about what my intuition was telling me without the other party being honest about it when I already knew the truth. I always felt crazy and insecure but as soon as I'm with the right people/person that feeling goes away so as soon as my anxiety wears off im with the right people or location.
