It took me forever to realize the "butterflies" was really just a huge red flag. It was anxiety
@jscorpio1987
@jscorpio1987 2 жыл бұрын
That’s half true for me. I’ve come to learn that there are two types of butterfly feelings. One that feels warm and fuzzy and makes you excited to see the person, and the other that comes from anxiety because it’s actually your gut telling you that person is not good for you. I’ve felt both types over the past 18 years but have only recently learned how to differentiate them

@@princesstommy9311 honestly I doubt it, you see I can’t just hope she changes you know it’s very hard for people to truly transform who they are and it’s not wise of me to believe such a possibility exists. Beautiful advice. The only adjustment I would make when repeating this idea is not “how do they MAKE me feel”, but rather simply ‘how do I feel?’ Giving up control of your own emotions to others is generally what we are taught, and tend to repeat. Matthew is doing it here. But words hold meaning. The words we use when we talk to ourselves are very important. Use words that empower your freedom, your choice, your independence. No one can “make” me feel anything, I am the one choosing to respond in specific ways to the words I am hearing. I am the one who gives power to words. If I have a negative association with the phrase “I just need some space“, then anytime a partner of mine says, “I just need some space right now”, that might make me feel abandoned or afraid that they are rejecting me. This fear of abandonment is a belief I’m choosing to hold based upon past experience. The work that I can do in order to take back my own freedom is to uncover why those words trigger me, and find ways to heal myself of those past traumas. Doing this will give me freedom from those words and allow me to move through the world exactly how I choose. My goal is to do enough healing around my wounds that you can no longer “make me feel” or “make me do” anything. I choose to respond to any stimulus exactly how I wish. So ask yourself how do I feel when they ghost me for three days? how do I feel when they interact with me the way they do? how do I feel? All problems in our relationships basically boil down to one thing. SCARCITY. You know what you don’t want in a relationship. So anytime you meet someone who shows you the things you don’t want. Kindly thank them for spending time with you and tell them that you are looking for other things in a relationship, and leave. Most of us, however, are so scared that we won’t be able to find somebody, that there aren’t enough good partners to go around, that we allow ourselves, in our scarcity mindset, to endure relationships that simply don’t look like our ideal relationship. Scarcity is a lie. Much love to all of you. So much gratitude to Matthew for the content he puts out into the world and all the study and self reflection that goes into creating that content.

Because, he always made me feel confused about the relationship, his indecisiveness and his selfish little ways forgetting to include me, caused me to Run without bending. Needless to say, he is now calling and texting. And, it’s super hard not to take the easy route and go back! Because, we shared a ton of creative hobbies, connection and strong feelings for each other. But, he always made me feel sad and confused after spending the day with him and going home!

Yeah I agree, I don't completely resonate with the term "make me feel" because it conjures up a sense of victimhood and reactivity, but I get the point that they should be respectful and emotionally attentive and responsible to the point where you "feel"you can trust them. But yeah, I'm not pinning my happiness on anybody. My narcissist parents cured me of that, because none of my efforts are ever enough to "make them happy" and their inconsistent day/night behavior (warm when I am doing what they want or need them, cold and harsh when I disagree or want to be different/avoid codependency) let's me know I can't trust my emotional health to other people. I have to go to my mindful space, connect spiritually, and get satisfaction from reaching goals and enjoying hobbies or things about myself.

I've learned, the way that I feel about myself has to be bigger than how someone else feels and makes me feel. Then I check on how someone else makes me feel, and if it gets to be lower than the stability I have already gained, then they'll have to go. All individuals have to work on their own happiness.

No it's not his job to make you feel secure and happy but how he makes you feel through his behavior towards you is a true reflection of how he feels about you. If his behavior creates negative feelings in you for example he makes you feel unloved, under valued, unattractive, unappreciated because he's avoiding you, not answering text, flirting with women in your face then that's how you measure if you'll leave him or stay with him.

Well I was taught along time ago that nobody else can make me feel anyway. If I'm feeling a certain way it comes from within. Ex if your with someone and they have been disrespectful to you, you can be made at this person for staying. That's called learned behaviour. That person disrespected you and you allowed it to happen. Learnt behaviour. You could only be mad at yourself after that for staying. Same thing with not returning text messages. If they don't return a text and you choose to stay, your teaching that person its OK. Its your conscience choice to stay or not.

This is Epic, Matt We were raised as humanity to feel about ourselves that we are not good enough to be happy, and feel, and love, and look into ourselves, honor ourselves, saying this is what l want, l am deserving of love and respect. And never compromise our happiness for the acting the relationships, faking our own lives, wasting years and our precious souls for the sake of being together, while at the same time we are lonelier, sad as we can be for not being seen as what we truly are. Only because of the shame that we are not good enough. And we are. We are here. That is the only proof that we are worthy. We are unique and brilliant. Love yourselves first. This is the starting point for a true partnership, honoring yourself and knowing what you want, define your match ❤️

Holy shit. That did not make sense at first, but as he was going on, it hit me-- I've lived this before. I was with a guy for almost seven years-- we were engaged for the last year and a half-- and in some ways he was a great guy, very loving man, never laid a hand on me like, in an abusive way, he was supportive. . . but I was ALMOST ALWAYS anxious around him. I almost always worried that I wasn't enough. It always took a lot to calm me down when I was around him. It was like everything in me was telling me to run and I just didn't listen for years on end.

Be careful not falling into projection. Of course only you know detailed aspects of your relationship but often not feeling enough comes from not valuing ourselves enough. And no partner can fix that for us. It's usually connected to childhood or other trauma bonds and it can subconsciously lead to the self sabotaging of relationships and looking for reasons around why we don't feel good while the answer is within us. Happiness comes from within first.

I think this is a complicated message to get out. I don't put my happiness in someone else's hands; but when someone else comes into my life, they shouldn't destroy what is there.

It goes both ways I think ..how they cause u to feel definitely yes & how u also feel about them ..& it's not if they "make" you happy but if they "add" happiness to your life... We already need to be internally joyful.

Although external influences can impact our emotions, entrusting others with the responsibility of making us happy means surrendering our autonomy to shape our thoughts, feelings, and actions❤❤❤

This is why I'm happier being alone and away from that person. No, I'm afraid that person can't make me happy, so I choose not to commit. They never committed to me in the first place, so there really is no point on my part in doing so. The growing absence of that person in my mind has led me to less stress, no anxiety, no backpains. I am a happy camper these days! Handsome, accomplished, smart, whitty...but unfortunately, makes me feel like crap and adds way too much drama to my life. He made me hate mayself, but I am learning to love myself again. Guess some things aren't just meant to be and I'm fine with that.

That is correct! A total evaluation of a good lover, is based on all about him & how he treats you! Pick & choose the man, who treats you like you are his own breath! You are someone, that he totally care for & doesnt ever want to be without!

I'm glad I found these videos of Matthew years ago. I've been sharing them with friends (and lovers) and most of them couldn't comprehend even the simplest ideas because of bias and a mindset I couldn't begin to comprehend.

Nobody can make you angry or good without your consent. Look how you feel when you are around them .. don’t give him the power to make you feel good or bad insecure .. stay in your own emotions watch if you feel even better around him. Don’t give the steer of your emotions away, stay happy and if you feel bad stay happy and leave to a better options

I needed this! He makes me feel special, protectived, loved. The other him makes me feeling I'm alone. Not important. Disrespected. Not special, not loved. Yessss! I have said this many times! That I like and love them because Its my love and like for myself and them. If I stayed because of their love and how they treated me. I be gone. I go when I had enough Disrespected, hurt, lonely, sad, and cry

I agree to a point, but a lot of us have issues usually from childhood that are triggered by our partner, through no fault of there own, that caused us to be emotional and these need to be worked through by ourselves or with a therapist.

It takes time for "feelings" to smooth out and level off. People need to communicate when there is anxiety or some other distress and give their partner or s/o a chance to address the issue. If there us understanding and cooperation, then great! The older we get, the more time is needed to work out issues. But be wise and don't waste time with an uncooperative or defensive person.

Since when we give the power of how I feel to someone else? No one should have the power to make you happy or unhappy. You decide who to feel towards anyone else based on your osrameters of your relationship and their relationship to that standard. Is you are not satisfied with anyone's response to you, then You decide to relate or not.

Interestingly. When met my beloved husband of 25 years I thought l, for the first time, not was he good enough for me, but was I good enough for him? He was so kind and loving, so beautiful inside and out, that he changed me for the better, immediately. I felt not the weight, but the expansion and joy of commitment.
