anna yesssss, they are! almost all grocery stores have at least dark and light soy sauce- the bigger ones tend to have at least sweet chili sauce, hoisin sauce and oyster sauce (even outside of cairo). there are also a few chinese supermarkets, and websites specified for asian ingredients in general. there is also a korean grocery store, and most korean restaurants sell korean ingredients. if you need any help with the places that sell them, i am here to help!

Daniel and Katie, it’s because of you two that I’ve become proficient in cooking! Over quarantine, I’ve tried out some of your recipes and they’re all awesome. I love spicy food, and you make cooking so accesible and simplify it so it’s not intimidating. Thank you both! Cheers from California.

I love the way you give ingredient portion sizes. I usually just cook by eye which is always good to my taste, but a little inconsistent. But you've taught me to measure with my body and common objects for the same result every time! Thank you!

Don’t understand why you don’t just add the meat and vegs into the broth and it will be soup which it is anyway. why go through all that. Just a complicated way to cook when it doesn’t have to be.

Boy, I can't wait to go out for Korean food when it's safe to do so! My partner and I were going to go to KBBQ for our 5th year anniversary (because it's something we both enjoy, as I love the food and everything Korea has to offer and he just loves meat), we ended up canceling the reservation because we were both not comfortable about going out (he's immunocompromised a lot of the cases were in the CBD of our state, and that's where the restaurant is). So our first night out will be for our belated anniversary dinner. So excited!

I'm so glad I found your video! Thank you so much for this. I lived in Korea when I started dating my fiancé and our first date was at a shabu shabu restaurant. We haven't had it in 7 years! Our anniversary is coming up and I wanted to recreate our first date. The way you prepared it is exactly how I remembered Korean-style shabu shabu, which is weirdly hard to find information on since other styles are more well-known! I'm so grateful for your video!

If you can't handle heat too well, perhaps start with a 1/3 of the sauce. It may look spicy on film, but once its mixed in with the broth, becomes a well-rounded spice - very tasty!

We went as a group in our Eng/Lan club & I forgot to ask what the name of the dish was called. I had to search so many videos until I came across it lol. It came out delicious the only problem is I overcooked the noodles & they were too mushy. How long from the time I put them in should I take them out?

Definitely use dried mushrooms to replace the anchovy flavour and I'd suggest adding soy sauce or something a little salty too. Not much. Honestly it'll never be as good, but you wouldn't know the difference anyway, having never tried it the good way 😂

Definitely konbu and dried shiitake, as mentioned by others, but I also like to cheat just a tiny bit and add a small scoop of Better Than Bouillon. They’ve got a tonnnnn of different flavors, but the garlic, mushroom, and vegetarian vegetable would be great for this! Really helps add that dee savoryness needed when the broth is the whole point.
