Thank you Marina for sharing your thoughts to learn English. I used to struggle to think of switching on or off subtitles, but I found it I would pay attention to subtitles more than video content, so I watch every English content without subtitles right now. If I don't understand 80% content, then I will switch to another topic that is more suitable to me or some expressions I might have misheard, I switch on subtitles, just look at that expression and try to say it, and then replay that segment without subtitles again to see if I catch that expression or not, but not look it up unless I've seen it several times. It helps me focus on and recognize new words and not let me easily get bored while I watch. There are no subtitles in real life either, so I want to train myself this way.

I watched that video particularly at a speed of 2.0 and I almost grasped all the words from her speech regardless of the fact that I have no solid understanding of this sort of things.
